Would make it easier for users to capture hilarious chat moments that might span multiple screens without having to scroll back up, take a screencap, and repeat ad nauseum. Or in order to make it a bit more streamlined, have commands set so you can export chat logs of a specific type from your own chat window (i.e. if you want to export guild chat logs, indicate something like /export guildchat and it'll just copy the green stuff).

Potential downsides would be people using it to chatgrab everything possible, but if someone's patient enough they can just type out what was said like a stenographer and no one would be any the wiser anyway. This would just be a much simpler way of sharing funny chat moments with people who might find the conversation as hilarious as you did when it happened. and without SK's chat window having the ability to use timestamps or clickable URLs anyway, I really can't see this being a negative addition to any of the chat functionality SK has (which admittedly isn't much, ergo suggestion time).

respect is earned not given.

I tend to find the same joke heard more than once loses its effect after a while. Waste of time this.

the same could be said for quotes but i guess that would be considered an entirely different ballgame

to be fair i also never mentioned it being used exclusively for knock knock jokes, since it could serve a larger function of relaying information from one person to another without loss of context and again, for capturing just generally amusing comments/dialogues between people in the chat screen - using it solely for just telling a one line joke would indeed be a waste of time, but with a little imagination and some creative motivation, you can do more than just share "the same joke" as you put it

+1, this is also useful if you have a nice long discussion with someone and you want to save it. I did that once and I had to take 19 pictures of my chat :P

Ugh, why docx, that's a horrid format. RTF or CSV would work way better and more compatible with what you need, all that is needed is a few different indicators of time, user, and chat feed. With RTF, the chat feed can be displayed in the associated color, and CSV can have all details in separate columns.

Exporting might be a bit much considering they may or may not want you to be able to easily back up all text that's written ingame - however, enabling a hotkey to allow you to highlight text (which you can then CTRL+C) is a very reasonable thing to implement.
