I am a Steam user, and I want to buy Energy via my Steam funds. However, I am unsure if I will get an Ancient Prize Box for this. The Promotion page only mentions that buying the DLC on Steam does not count, and the Billing FAQ mentions "converted Steam Accounts". I originally made my account in December 2011 for the Steam Winter achievement (and never played again until now), but I'm pretty sure it was a Steam account and not a Web account. Not sure if that matters, but the Billing FAQ doesn't really say much else.

Finally, I'm unable to start the game with Steam overlay enabled, it crashes on bootup. I've heard that updating my video card drivers (on a laptop, Intel integrated) might fix it, but I was also considering letting a very close and trusted online friend log into my account for me. Would that cause my Steam funds to be frozen? Does Spiral Knights place any restrictions on log-in sessions with a vastly different GeoIP location?

In your case, I think a support ticket would be best right along here.

Thanks, I sent one in and got a response:

Greetings,

Steam wallet purchases will act the same way as any other purchase when it
comes to a promotion. So all purchases will count provided they are at least
$9.95. The only exception are DLC purchases. You can tell if you're going to
get boxes when you look at the package before buying it. So in game, when
selecting the package, it will say if there are boxes included.

If you are unable to update your drivers or get the overlay to work, you can
make your purchase through our billing page but you wont be able to use your
Steam wallet. Please make sure you sign in through your Steam account.

Allowing anyone to sign into your account is a violation of our Terms of
Service. You'll want to avoid doing this as it can cause you a number of
problems down the road.

Best wishes,
