Game is Skipping

The game is skipping... I call it mini d/cs, but I don't know what it is.

Details:
It only happens during a run... not in Haven, not anywhere else, just on a run.
It seems to skip the animation of monsters etc as if they were put on pause... other players end up running off the map like I was d/ced.
I can keep moving during the skip and it doesn't bounce me back once the skip is done.
It's only been happening since the Memory Leak Patch... not a day sooner or later.
It's not my connection...
I would try re-installing the game, but I don't want to reset my controls, so I have no idea if that would fix it.
The skips only last a second or two, but sometimes it will last up to around ten seconds.
The skips are usually rather frequent... sometimes there isn't even a second that goes by before it skips again.

I hope that's enough info to diagnose a problem. If not, I'll be happy to answer any questions I can.

Bandwidth. Perhaps it's time for OOO to better manage bandwidth?

My skipping started after the memory leak patch too. I've noticed mine skips less when I manage the memory more closely. It seems to only skip for the first couple depths on client startup, when it is system requesting more memory. The skipping stops after the third depth (which is also when it caps the memory I allot it).

My solution? Have the client start at capped memory. Google search "site:forums.spiralknights.com java memory" and you'll likely find instructions to add in the -Xms and -Xmx parameters for your client. Xms is the startup, Xmx is the cap.

My client starts up with 200

My client starts up with 200 MB of memory. It rapidly goes up to 400 MB as I load it Haven. Standing in Haven for about 3 minutes, it works it's way up to 500 MB. Loading in Guild Hall, it fluctuates dropping below 500, but goes up to 521 MB. It seems to be stable there... I'll do further tests later because either my game crashed or closing Fraps closed my game...

I've noticed that it skips

I've noticed that it skips pretty bad even when only at 450 MB. So probably not a memory issue?

I'm very curious...

-Don't read this I didn't read a certain post-...how the clients of you guys only stay at such low memory usage. Mine averages out at 700MB and can go up to 900MB at times. Very interesting. I'm using 64-bit Java btw but I've had this same thing happen on 32-bit Java.

I'm using the Steam Client with updated built-in Java.

Btw. What the OP describes looks very much like not having enough download speed. As download speed affects how you 'see' your environment react to stuff, etc. While upload speed affects the way 'you' react with the environment as well as your movement (having fluctuating upload speed can make you 'bounch around' like you say, might even tp you back to a previous location)

@The-Dragon-Child: Yes, I was thinking that maybe it had something to do with the server registering me but my computer not registering what was happening on the server. Although I'm unsure if I have a problem with download speed since my internet was just upgraded about 2-3 weeks ago and this problem didn't exist before the internet upgrade (or the "memory leak patch" either). My bars remain consistent during the skip too... always 4 bars of connection. It also doesn't effect my frame rates either. So I'm at a loss as to what may be the problem here if it's something on my end.

As always, it's probably server bandwidth, I get that some times too...

@Zaffy-Laffy: There's a difference between "sometimes" and "all the time," which is what I'm experiencing. Also, how did the server bandwidth magically change after one update?

With everyone spamming tortodrone missions and stuff, I too get that skipping "sometimes". It didn't change, just high demand.

Hmm...

To my experience dl speed fluctuations don't affect my connection bar (stays 4, even if I see monsters and players teleporting and rubberbanding). It only affects it when I have upload speed issues (When I see myself spazzing out), so when my sister is using the Spotify client for example (A program I hate with my guts), due to it being P2P and not having any bandwidth limitation features it destroys the little upload speed my network has. So I instantly notice when my sister is using that program as my connection bar goes into panic mode.

The Spotify Webplayer is good tho, it's the client I hate.
