Yesterday I was on one of these beast/slime freeze levels, and as far as I know, barbarous thorn shield is a really good option against slimes and such because It¡s a piercing shield, but since that level's mobs inflict freeze, they tear apart my shield anyway.

So here's my question, I got a Tortomega and my Barbarous so, Which shield is better? What does more damage in an attack; the attack itself or the status? If I take the BTS, the freeze destroyes It, I if take the Tortomega, the piercing damage is going to destroy It too, so I'd really want to know which one would be better in these cases of status vs type of damage.

Trats-Romra has pretty much covered the 'status vs damage type' argument. Status will always outweigh damage type while the game is in it's current state.

However, the shields you were comparing have different natures. BTS give you sword damage increase while GorgoMega gives you movement speed decrease. Most people would argue that BTS is superior, as it seems that the game favours offence over defence in almost all circumstances.
It's just down to personal preference.

Bear in mind that the BTS does not have much defence to start with. I can't remember if it has status resistance or not, but I'm assuming not - in which case almost every other shield is superior in defence.

It just comes down to whether you want to block the hit or attempt to kill them before they can hit you.

Thank you both

Thank both of you. It was just a silly question and in fact, Drach, you're right BTS is an actual poor choice when It comes to defence, I only crafted It for Its damage bonus, but I was running gunner so Its buff wasn't that important.
