New Ways to Accquire Orbs of Alchemy?

I'm sure everyone has trouble getting orbs of alchemy for that new sword or chestpiece. It's a pain, isn't it? Which is why I have formulated a few new ways to get orbs of alchemy.

1) Crafting.
We have an alchemy system in the game that requires orbs of alchemy. Instead of grinding for crowns to buy orbs from the auction house, buying CE for orbs, or farming missions, we should be able to craft orbs. Here's an example.
10 Flawed orbs for 1 simple orb. 3 simple orbs for 1 advanced orb. 10 advanced orbs for 1 elite. 20 elite for 1 eternal. Feel free to edit this as you wish.

2) Vendors.
Vendors! You could have a vendor named, say, William, the Forge and Orb vendor. He will sell you fire crystals for forging, and orbs of alchemy for crafting. Maybe 1 flawed orb can cost, say, 250 crowns. 1 Simple orb would cost 1,000 crowns. 1 Advanced orb is 2,500-4,000 crowns, choose the price. 1 Elite orb costs 8k. 1 Eternal orb costs 14k. How 'bout it?

For now, this is what I've come up with. Feel free to add more ways or give feedback on these current ideas. To the mods and staff members, if this has already been suggested, my apologies, and I will say that I did search for it. Thank you for taking your time to read this!

Have you looked in the supply depot? (or on the AH for that matter?)

I did in fact, look in the supply depot and AH. Check Crafting.

I have...I said that it's too much pain to grind for the money for the energy/crowns and who wants to buy energy for orbs?

I'm going to go a few things here:

1) Crafting.
We have an alchemy system in the game that requires orbs of alchemy. Instead of grinding for crowns to buy orbs from the auction house, buying CE for orbs, or farming missions, we should be able to craft orbs. Here's an example.
10 Flawed orbs for 1 simple orb. 3 simple orbs for 1 advanced orb. 10 advanced orbs for 1 elite. 20 elite for 1 eternal. Feel free to edit this as you wish.

First of all, I would easily agree with this but the price ratio is way too high and it's much easier to just downscale them than upscale them. But I would honestly disagree even if I did like it just because it would be a loss of money that way.

2) Vendors.

I would rather prefer if Three Rings put a singular Orb of Alchemy on the Supply Depot than this. Your prices are way too low. At the average price of Crystal Energy being 9000/100CE, I could buy 3 Eternal Orbs at this price for <500CE. Unless you were going to do it this way, I'd rather suggest using Crystal Energy instead of Crowns as the cost of Crowns to Energy is varied where-as Crystal Energy is a flat-rate.

So, other than that. -1

@Glacies, 1) I can understand

@Glacies,

1) I can understand that the price ratio is way too high. I suggested this to some of my friends, and they said the same thing. And pardon my possible stupidity, but how can it be a loss of money? The price of crafting?

2) I thought the prices were too low. It is very cheap, and even I could buy an elite orb.

I still find it funny that people complain about Orbs...

I'd just like to point out that Orbs used to not exist. You had to Craft using Energy. Know how much energy it took? 10 Energy for 1*, 50 Energy for 2*, 200 Energy for 3*, 400 Energy for 4*, and 800 Energy for 5*. Then the Sprite update came out, and with it, Orbs of Alchemy. In other words, Orbs of Alchemy are basically free energy, so I see absolutely no reason to make Crafting even easier than they've already made it.

On that note, -1 to Vendors simply because we can already buy them from the Auction House (albeit for a rip-off price, but people have got to make money somehow). And -1 to the Crafting idea of crafting upwards. I'd +1 if we could craft downwards (such as turning Eternals into Elites), but -1 to crafting upwards.

Dibs has it right. Quit being lazy kids. Back in my day we had to pay 10 Energy per elevator and make our weapons with Energy, not Orbs.

Dibsville summed up pretty much what I would have said, so thanks.

The problem is not about "how it was like when we were kids", but rather, if everyone keeps suggesting for things to be moved from energy costs to crown costs (earlier there was a suggestion for Trinket/Weapon slots to be purchased with Krogmo coins, which economy-wise are basically crowns which have hardened into tokens over time) then what will be the point of Energy? Energy will continually flow into the game. With no energy sinks, the price of energy will become lower and lower until no-one even bothers buying Energy anymore because there is that much in circulation it's practically toilet paper.

This kills the ability to "pay to rush", removing the incentive for spending money on the game. You know what happens to games that aren't being funded by their players?

let's see now...

Looking at number one, there's one thing i find very flawed. It would cost less to buy it from the supply depot than to craft upwards. For example, 20 elite orbs is equivalent to about 2667 energy. You can get 3 eternal orbs for 800 energy.
Another bad exchange rate is 10 flawed orbs of alchemy for one simple. That's exchanging about 33 energy's worth of flawed orbs for 17 energy's worth of simple orbs.
And again, another bad exchange rate with advanced orbs. I don't know what you did with this, but the exchange rate suddenly dropped to make it way easier. You can get 3 simple orbs for 50 energy in the supply depot, and one advanced orb should be worth about 67 energy.
As for advanced>elite, like before, this is a horrible exchange rate, giving up about 667 energy's worth of advanced orbs for 1 elite orb, worth about 133 energy.

As for 2, I don't know where you get these prices from. Let's assume that the promo's are over, and the price of energy goes back up to I don't know, 8000 crowns. Might be a little low, but this is just an example.
Flawed Orb: 750 for 3, supply depot is 800 crowns for 3
Simple Orb: 3000 for 3, supply depot would be 4000 crowns for 3
Advanced Orb: Either 7500 or 12k for 3, supply depot would be 16k for 3.
Elite Orb: 24k for 3, supply depot would be 32k for 3.
Eternal Orb: 42k for 3, supply depot would be 64k for 3.

Still either way, I don't support either of these ideas because they introduce other ways to get things that would cost energy, and as such, the demand for energy will go down. When it goes down, less people will need to buy it (less orbs needed to buy it), and OOO will lose money. It's probably bad for a game to lose money.

who wants to buy energy for orbs?

The orbs are basically equivalent to the amount of energy needed to craft before the Battle Sprite Update. They just made it a little more appealing(for lack of a better word). As a Champion with a full 5* arsenal, I agree with the time and difficulty it took to craft all of them, but we have free Elevators now and there are lots of Treasure Vaults out there.

too much pain to grind for the money for the energy/crowns

Treasure Vaults. View gate structure and see if you're heading to them, then it's heaven.
