Recently I've been thinking about getting a grey feather set after watching a few bombers (with magic cloak line armor) be able to walk over several most bombs due to their high resistance. I just have a few questions.

1. Gameplay.

a - Grey Feather Set an alright set?
b - In Lockdown, will it be able to withstand AoA, VT and Shiv (with +8 Freeze from UVs)?
c - The Divine Set or Grey Feather Set?

2. Aesthetics.

a - I like Mohawks (even if they are spike ones) Which colour / style goes well with the Grey Feather Set?

Thanks for reading,
Mengh

For all purposes I'm assuming

For all purposes I'm assuming you're considering this set for its usefulness in LD. (I'm also assuming you're a striker swordie)

Grey Feather is a fairly decent set. It will offer you that immunity to AoA and VT (Shiv too, if you're dedicated and willing to cash out on some Max UV's). Elemental defense is also very handy for weapons that tend to deal those statuses; namely the mist bombs and alchemers. Grey Feather is a very safe option, very defensive. If you're only looking for mist-walking properties, then it is perfect.

However you may want to go a little further. Add some firepower and iron to your set. In which case the Grey Feather is not the most effective set.

If this is so, you want VT and Shiv immunity (AoA not very common in LD so I'm ignoring it here) while maintaining offensive bonuses, there are sets out there. An example would be Skolver with Max shock UV's. Another set you may consider is the BKC with Mercurial Mail. Just acquire one Max Freeze UV and at least +6 worth of Shock UV's on it and you're good to go. Just a warning though. Acquiring these sets would take a lot of time and dedication. Unless you're willing to remortgage the house and/or eat once a day.

Ultimately what this all boils down to is what statuses annoy/restrict you the most. Shock and fire? Sure go for Grey Feather. Freeze? Try skolver. Keep in mind that offensive bonuses are also very important when determining which status set is better than the other.

|The Divine Set or Grey Feather Set?

For your LD intentions, either is fine.

|Aesthetics

Whatever suits your tastes should do it. For the colour scheme of Grey Feather, try something along the lines of heavy or toasty.

I have a Divine Set with +3 curse on the hood and +1 shock on the cloak.

b) Yes. But get +1 shock as well so you can be immune to Polaris and Storm Driver
c) Divine gives shadow defence, but Gray Feather provides normal defence. If you intend to bomb, go for Divine because swords can't touch you. Otherwise, choose Divine in case of Umbra Driver.

You should also note that as a Guardian you only need a low UV + max from most 5*s' standard resistance to be immune, so if you even stacked multiple UVs you could be immune to a lot more (for cheaper) as a guardian. But of course, play styles and all that.

Don't think anyone else has said anything that hasn't been already said, but just to give to lay it out there, in case you don't know already

Minor Status immunity (eg mist bombs)

Striker/Recon: Minimum High + Max
Guardian: Max + Low (Med + High gives the same as well)

Moderate Status immunity (eg. Alchemers)

Striker/Recon: Minimum Max + Max + Low
Guardian: Max + High

@Zeddy Would Grey Feather make any difference when it comes to defending against, say, Valiance, Supernova, or god forbid, Volcanic Pepperbox?

@Qwao

It would. The normal defence of Grey Feather set exceeds 100, which is the minimum in LD. Thus, you get an effect. For more info, see the wiki article on Defence. It holds other relevant links on the bottom of the page.
