So yesterday I decided to play spiral knights as saw the new update was out, but after it updated the game, I was shown this window: Screenshot
I have tried looking online for a solution but have found nothing so far, did try reinstalling and verifying the cache, but nothing is working. However if I run the non steam launcher, it works fine, just steam accounts can not be used on there any more.
Sometimes an installed antivirus or security program will block Spiral Knights
from communicating with the game servers properly. This can usually be
resolved by adding the java.exe and javaw.exe files as exceptions in these
programs. The files can normally be found in the following locations,
depending on how you play Spiral Knights:
- Web or Desktop Client: C:\Program Files (x86)\java\jre7\bin
- Steam Client: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Spiral
Knights\java_vm\bin
In some cases you may need to disable or uninstall a security program before
Spiral Knights runs properly. Programs that may require this are AVG's
LinkShield or the Comcast Constant Guard.
After doing that, please try a full reinstall to make sure that the files are
installed correctly. When uninstalling on Steam you'll have to do a little
extra since Steam doesn't always remove all the leftover Spiral Knights game
files. Your knight is saved on our server, so you don’t need to worry about
losing any information by removing the game from your computer.
1) Right-click Spiral Knights in the Steam Library and choose the "Delete
Local Content..." option to remove the game.
2) Navigate to your Steam Spiral Knights folder (default C:\Program Files
(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\spiral knights) and delete any remaining files or
folders.
3) Go to Spiral Knights in the Steam Store and install the game again
normally. The game will automatically patch to the current version when
launched. Idk if this'll help
Still unable to find any solution, and now a friend of mine is having the same issue.
