I think for the new "T4" there should be a new challenge so there should be monsters with no weaknesses and monsters with multiple strengths. Vanaduke is a cross beast/fiend. So the stuff should be things like undead/construct and gremlin/slime

gods ain't gonna help you, son.

beast and fiend, where did you get that. that way it shouldn't be immune to shadow in the last stages.
and T4 would solve nothing, and oh, I'm tired.
I'll just drop this off: I'll start counting how many times something comes to suggestions and post it every time someone suggests it, just for fun.
GlaDOS type fun.

Let me make one thing clear. Yes, all of you haters are right. Vanaduke isn't a beast fiend and T4 wouldn't work. But don't shoot him down, because he has a cool idea and isn't suggesting T4 to begin with. He's just saying "T4" as a placeholder for the after-vanaduke levels that were promised, because there are many many rumors going about and some of them are true. Now then, can we all discuss the idea of split-family enemies?

The idea of cross-enemies is a cool one though. I would love for the developers to revamp the enemy-system so that it actually makes sense + encorporates this is a future mechanic. What I would propose for a new system, would be:

0. Enemies no longer fit to the "beast is weak to piercing, slime is weak to..." ruling. Their weaknesses + resistances are now more interesting, but still reflect on their original design. This doesn't mean that they're all just random, but that new enemies and areas may have an ability to change their weaknesses/resistances, or that of their allies, or perhaps even just have additional armor. Enemies already do this to some extent with quicksilvers and Devil-ITs; I propose weakening the boundaries further.

1. Before split enemies are worth anything, we must make it so that "Damage vs Undead" actually hurts the undead. Almirian crusaders are undead. Damage vs Undead should damage undead. Almirian crusaders should thus take extra damage from Damage from Undead. Not doing so is like lying to the players. Further, ALL monsters should have a family, even if it isn't 100% correct-- having vanaduke as a split undead/fiend would open up new tactics when it comes to fighting him-- like using deadshot or heavenly iron + the sprite perk.

2. Make it so that enemies can have split typing. They would take damage from both damage bonuses as if it were the worst case scenario. I.E. A split slime+beast would take damage med from my arcane salamander helmet.

This isn't something I expect to see implemented tomorrow, but I think that its an issue that the developers will have to face eventually as they continue to implement newer and newer content.

I can mostly agree with that ...

Personally I'm of the opinion that it might as well be worth it to increase the number of families to eighteen so every combination is possible. But split typing is a reasonably good measure in itself.

I don't get it.

beast/fiend=weak to pierce
undead/construct=weak to elemental
gremlin/slime=weak to shadow

this too

Also every mob would ONLY take neutral damage due to your "cross mobs"suggestion.

nah fehz, I'm not a hater, I was just tired.
the idea itself is actually cool and all, but details. also before redoing old monsters we should buff the old ones, or make these cross monsters like the elite class.
