Issues Connecting/Loading the game

Until today, I had no issues running/playing Spiral Knights, and I can still start the game without issue. However, since this morning, every time I have hit a loading screen, it's been approximately a 50/50 chance of whether or not it'll allow me to proceed. Most loading screens just sit as a black screen until I get disconnected from the server, after 5-10 minutes.

I restarted my computer, updated Java, removed all old versions of Java, restarted my modem and router, verified the integrity of my game files via Steam (yes, I do play through Steam, however I tried this with a non-Steam account and still had the same problems), disabled the Steam overlay, and anything else I can think of. Additionally, it ONLY seems to be Spiral Knights giving me any issue - I played on a friend's Starbound server for an hour today without any issues, and Netflix and Youtube continues to load just fine.

My computer's not GREAT at running the game but the specs are enough to run it well enough on low settings, and it's never hung on loading screens like this. Any advice would be super helpful!

I tried a fresh reinstall of

I tried a fresh reinstall of the game itself too and I still am having difficulties. I got to my Ready Room two out of three times but I still can't get into Haven or my guild hall from there.

I COULD play briefly earlier today and had no connection issues that I saw? I ran RJP with a friend and didn't notice any lag or anything like that. I have a four-bar connection when I am in my Ready Room, too.

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3424523842 Recent speed test I took.

That same friend recommended using Razor's GameBooster app, and I noticed that when running games with the app running, it shows your frames per second in the corner. In my Ready Room, it showed approximately 25-33 fps, but when I got a black screen trying to go to the guild hall, the fps shot up to over 230? That.. didn't seem right. It stayed at over 120 when I hit Esc, too. ??? I DUNNO MAN.

Edit:
Rebooted again, dusted out my laptop again, installed SpeedFan which has my temps a little high but still within the okay range, ran CCleaner, uninstalled Spiral Knights again AND removed the entire folder by hand (as Steam didn't remove everything on its own), aaand still can't get into the Guild Hall. Seems like Haven loads most of the time now, at least.

Can you list your specifications for us to confirm if it is just hardware limitations?

I can confirm this.

The same thing has been happening to me for a couple hours. I'm absolutely certain it's not a hardware problem. My PC is too good for that, and I have never had any problems loading. In fact, usually I load faster than everyone else.

Interestingly, I have one thing to add. When verifying the game cache, I was told 8 files sizing about 93 MB needed to be downloaded. The normal patch utility runs through its patching/validation routine. However, running verification again results in the same thing happening. This might be unrelated, but nonetheless.

I too had the same 8 files

I too had the same 8 files needing re-verification. Might just be because of the patch.

anywho, specs, just in case? (though this literally ran fine yesterday and every day since the last patch, I didn't even restart until the problems started so nothing new was installed/changed):

Windows Vista Home Basic service pack 2 (32 bit)
Intel Core2 Duo CPU @ 2.10 GHz
4 gigs RAM
Mobile Intel 4 Series Chipset Family

yaaay integrated graphics cards

for more information this is a Lenovo ThinkPad SL410, can give more specs if necessary?

I got into KoA just fine, I

I got into KoA just fine, I can get into Haven just fine

but a guildie invited me to depth 1, a Deconstruction Zone, and black screen'd again

still entirely unable to get into my Guild Hall, too.

Confirmation now, too, when I get black screen'd, even if I select quit, the server doesn't immediately disconnect me, so I'm unable to get back on for some stretch of time.

Ssso not to jinx it or anything but it seeeeems to be working fine now. I didn't do anything else other than what I posted, just .. stopped trying since last night, and I've done all of my daily prestiges now without issue (whereas before I'd blackscreen before I got my reward). So far, anyway.

Huh.

similar problem

I'm starting to have the same problem you have but it started with just automatically shutting down and quitting the application after its done loading from the loading screen. This happens every time I try and play it, and every time I do a verification of cache files it found 8, and yesterday it started saying 9 files were found. I even tried to use it on my brother's laptop and it does not work either. I don't know if its a problem with my internet or with the laptops themselves, BTW we have MacBook Pros so.... please help me find solutions.

You miiight have better luck

You miiight have better luck making your own thread, as your problem sounds very different from mine, actually. D: Mine never shut down or quit out, and I'm on Windows Vista, not OSX. Very different stuff could be going on.

Exact problem.

Running windows 7, having the same exact problems you just listed Addy. This was happening too frequently so I decided to check this subforum... and I guess it is not just me. This is completely new for me, I never had this problem until today.

Been having steam connectivity problems as well. But when I do get in and run missions. Every time it loads the level, its a 50/50 black screen or normal.

Just to add to it.

Having the same or similar problems. Very few players, but not many others have it too.

Frustrates me a bit when playing Lockdown. Happens in the Clockworks, missions, and even Haven (returning at least.. ). It happens to me on a lower frequency, but certainly frequent enough. Sometimes it will black screen for a long time, but still make it through... or it will disconnect if you leave it going.
My ping is great, and I am using Ethernet. I do not see the game running out of memory when it happens, the memory is about the same. Load is at ~33% on the java process.

Cannot verify my game files, I don't use Spiral Knights on Steam. I did not find anything on it on Google about verifying without using Steam, so sorry that I am unable to provide that information.

I am using the the first original Surface Pro, the only difference is using ethernet and using Intel generic drivers, 10 / 31 / 2013, version 10.18.10.3345, and am using Windows 8 (not 8.1). I am on low settings with compatibility mode. My Java is version 7, update 51, build 1.7.0_51-b13.

Hope I did all this correctly... please don't be too brutal if i made a poor post... I normally don't make forum posts but I felt I needed to contribute to fix this bug.
