I've seen some people lying about thier age and intruding SK even though SK is becoming more and more babyish its still a 13+ game. So to protect SK when people log on give the like a math question or something lik 19x19=361

I'm 25 years old and I

I'm 25 years old and I couldn't do that without a calculator. :s

Plus it's not like a 12 year old can't figure out how a calculator works. Kids under 13 aren't supposed to play anyway, so if you see anybody underage on you should probz report 'em.

Guess what. Thats what Mist and Elevator fees did.

Having to manage elevator taxes was a simple enough hurdle to keep anyone who couldn't wrap their head around how to function with it from picking up the game.

Sjust algebra :D

19X19 = ???
20X20 = 400
(19+1)X(19+1) = 400 = 19^2 + 19 (1) + 19 (1) + 1 = 19^2 + 19 (2) + 1
400 = 19^2 + 19(2) + 1
19X19 = 400 - [2 (19) + 1] = 400-39 = 361

And I still can't log on! >:O

Question

When creating your account, don't you have to type something for the Birth Year and Email?

I thought you couldn't have your birth year be something less than if you were 13.

Well, something could be done but not much would work.

No matter how much age security a game puts on, the invention of the internet is going to make it easy to get through. The requirement of a birth year and email doesn't always work either. Anyone who is at least 5 (maybe even less) years old could simply use a random email and enter their birth date as 11-11-1111 and it would probably still work.

Any history question given would just be a Google search waiting to happen and math equations could just be solved with a calculator. As long as you know how the problem works.

This is possibly the dumbest suggestion I've ever seen.

Just take a look at all the kids whose parents let them play games like COD. Do you really think SK is even comparable to the level of violence that game exposes them to? Not to say this game doesn't have any violent content but just that I would rather have kids here learning to cooperate here than hurling swears around they heard on Xbox live.

^It isn't because of violence or because Spiral Knights has terrifying content that would crush the children's minds. Its because of COPPA.

okay why would you want to keep children out?
WONT NOBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN?!

ahoho, but jokes aside. Children are easy to market to, you could advertise a coloured box and it would sell to a child.
making it "harder" for kids to join in would just be a huge profit loss, cmon what's easier to persuade; a child or an adult?
the child will see they need more of something like orbs, get their parents credit card and buy it
an adult would see they need more orbs and decide its not worth buying in game currency when they can work for it

look at that case of a kid who bought $1000 worth of useable items on an ipod game by stealing his parents credit card

I propose the test to be something that determines whether or not the player has any idea what a firewall is.

But then the player could just do a Goggle search.

How 'bout this?

Just make everyone go into an interview with an OOO representative in person to have their account cleared for use.

Sorry I got it wrong, it was $1500 not $1000

Still, a Kid could do that and maybe spend like £50+ buying a ton of energy and powering through the ranks
I think the supply depo is limited to your rank though, but still they could easily just own every blade at every star value just because they spent the money for it
