I was initially excited by the word of the new "recover accessory" system, but the current implementation was rather disappointing. It's only worth using if you want to remove a very rare accessory, for more common items it would be cheaper to just craft another set of armor to put different accessories. I think we would get a lot more use out of the system if it was tweaked slightly, and I have an idea for how that could work.
The idea would be to have the price of removing an accessory be linked to its rarity/value. Here's how it would work: there would be a base cost to remove items (say, 1000 CE), which would then be multiplied by the item's rarity factor. For (most) crests, which is worthless as everyone has them, the rarity factor might be something like .1, so the actual cost to recover a crest would be 100 CE. For something a little less common, like a helm mounted display, the multiplier would be something like a .5 or so. For somewhat rare items (like stuff from promo boxes), the multiplier would be around 1, and as items got less common, the value would climb higher (something like iron dragon wings might have a value of 6 or 7, for example).
That's just a whole lot of mucking around trying to determine arbitrary prices for everything.
