Piercing Variant Of The Brandish Family - Estocius
I think we are better off making a heavy lance class with piercing and normal damage while deal two hits per combo.
Yes, with a wide swipe and a powerful charge for the second attack, the second attack should have a good reach as well as a large AoE.
If brandish lines got nerfed then yes. As is, the brandish has the most lines (for sword) and is considered the best sword line in the game.

We don't need more brandish, balance comes first
I think that with the direction the game is heading, this is perfectly acceptable.
Flourishes need to be dealt with in some way already, and we shouldn't base our assumptions of what is and is not balanced on the existence of already outdated items.
For instance: Is the black kat cowl balanced? Well, since it doesn't align with valkyrie's design, no... But that misses a ton of points about the item and the philosophy of the design behind things. Black kat is balanced with chaos. Acheron is balanced with the other brandish swords. Yes, these things need resolving, but that isn't really what we're questioning right now.

I think 40% less damage and the stun status (not strong, only moderate) would be nice. Though, remember, this is the "suggestion" forum.
Im not trying to make everything unbalanced.
Brandish:
• Long-range charge attack
• High damage on charge attack
• Fast attack speed
• Has status variants
Flourish:
• Long-range charge attack
• High damage on charge attack
• Fast attack speed
• Has status variants
Well, to be fair its more like:
Brandish:
-3 hit combo; short range on all 3 hits
-Larger, area damage charge attack; offers high single target DPS
-Lunges forwards a bit
Flourish:
-First hit is extra wide; 2nd and third hit are shorter
-Charge attack is high single target damage
-Lunges forwards significantly
They're totally different weapons. Flourish really rewards the player for using only the first hit of the combo to accomplish crowd control, while brandish rewards the player for finishing/progressing in the combo for high single target DPS or for charge spamming to crowd control. Flourish's combo is really best for picking out healers and throwing them out of the group; brandish relies on its charge to accomplish this.
I think the piercing element is good here, but maybe instead of making it passive-snarbolax themed, theme it to tier 3 jelly cubes. The explosions could be spikes poking out of the ground.
However, I think it should only deal normal damage and no status on the standard hits. I just can't see how a brandish can pierce an enemy without having giant spikes sticking out of the sword, in which case it might as well be a strange mace.
Then again, I don't think we really need more brandish lines.
I think it'd be fun to see nearly every weapon have multiple options for what kind of damage they deal. That way, people would pick weapon lines because of what they're capable of mechanically, not what their damage type is.
But then that'd be nearly the same thing as making every weapon deal the same type of damage..
Also, Fangel, it'd deal piercing on normal hits for the same reason a Flourish deals piercing on its 1st attack.
It's a video-game.
I don't want this weapon to become some brute with the power of an Acheron but with piercing damage. But it is yellow, and I need more yellow stuff. So it would be great if this was a weapon put in with proper balancing.
That charge attack is perfect...
im not so sure on it having stun status but the explosion makes it logical in a way
other than that it's good. but make the the blade more spiky or something. and the blasts should have (instead of pillars of light) mini spiky barbarous thorn bomb explosions (but yellow and small black debris maybe)
I think it would be overpowered and render the FF obsolete if it deals no status because it'll become a Piercing Acheron.
