The Great and Amazing(ly boring) Infobox Project

There seems to be some support for infoboxes around the wiki, based on in-game feedback and posts in various threads on this forum.

I'd like to propose a few changes to the general format of these:

The big fat names drive me nuts.

I want to reduce the headers to distinct "umbrella category" type things, like so:

Accessory Info (anything that registers as an "accessory" in the arsenal, most of these are reskins lol)

We have been working on a nice sortable gear list, but I feel like its functionality will fall short in the face of hundreds of items. I'd like to be able to try and code something functional like what psypoke uses for pokemon (of which there are many):

But they don't let me see their page code easily and I'm lazy.

So on our SK wiki, people would just be like...

Defense type 1 = normal, defense type 2 = shadow...

status resist = fire....

search...

and bam, all items with that criteria show up.

Something is in the air today! Or tonight. Lots of wiki cleaning/polishing going on - this is not indicative of an event or massive gameplay changes, so do not be alarmed.

But we should celebrate cleaning!

I've played a few MMOs, and one of the things that always bothered me about open world was the game's wiki's lack of "where the heck do I find and talk to that NPC? He has this one cool thing that I want just cause and I can't find his exclamation-quest-point on any map!"

Spiral Knights does not have this issue, but I want to completely blow away any possibility of this being an issue in the future :D. I also want to enrich the pages with dialogue. Something that could be tedious or a snap, keep reading. NPC Character pages need some attention anyway.

Simply, there are not enough images for the new gunslinger update. I have uploaded three files: two gun pictures and one stats picture. Can people please be more... considerate of the wiki and help it?

The wiki uses this icon to show that there is some relavant information that requires mouseover.

At this point the information is not particularly crucial, nor do i know if there are any crucial information elsewhere hidden behind this function.

However, my issue with it is that it is not touch friendly =[
I can't mouseover and tapping it leads to the above page.
I play on my pc and have my ipad to look up the wiki.

The only other example i can think of is XKCD, and their alternative descriptions behind every comic.

I've noticed the http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Prize_Boxes page is pretty out of date. It is missing some older prize boxes (such as Caketastrophe #2) and someone should probably double-check http://wiki.spiralknights.com/News to make sure others aren't missing as well.

Also, a suggestion: why not add the percentages to the Possible Prizes show/hide? I mean, that's 90% of what people are interested in; you already list all of the contents of each box. Why not supply the breakdown there too?

The guild infobox template-- may the template be edited so that the Motto, Founders, and Population inputs are optional?
I only intend to use some of those rows, but not all of them. Thank you.

When you preview the pages it shows:

It's not showing the icon images at the bottom of the page.[Even the old stuff like Volcanic Salamander Helm]
Could the problem be the icon images are also linking to the page of the item? Or is it the cells themselves?

I could edit out the linking icon if that is what the problem is.

I have a design in mind, but I likely won't be able to get to it until this weekend. In the meantime, the 800px width restriction seems to work pretty well for fixing line breaks, vs. 50%.

New design in my head involves:
merging direct repeats into a single image
adding small headers to distinguish families (such as "pathfinder," "sentinel," "shade").
and a few other things.

Should reduce visual clutter - we'll see.
