If a weapon has a little emblem like this on it [that ive crafted] does it mean its special, they also have damage bonouses on certain famalies

I picked up this game when it came out on steam and have been using it to log me in. I like how it works but whenever I try to log into the website here I can't figure out what my username is. I tried the name I made in game for my character along with my steam name but it says the usernames don't exist. Can anyone tell me what you are supposed to use if you created your account through steam.
Okay, so I understand the whole thing of damaging monsters, what about monsters attacking knights? How would a knight take both elemental and normal damage from a Blight Knight (example)? What kind of equipment would a knight need to be resistant against elemental damage? How about the other way around? What kind of equipment would you need to be inflicted in elemental and normal damage both? The wiki on Spiral Knights didn't explain that, unless I didn't read something. Can someone please clarify this?

Hi there, I'm Michael99. I'm making this thread for all of those out there who wish to ask questions, or want help in-game. Now, while I don't consider myself a complete expert like some others I know, I'm pretty sure that I know enough to help out most players.
So here's the story: I just started to play spiral knights and i manage to get into tier 2 of the clockworks pretty smoothly, but now im encountering various problems. I remember that the spiral warden said that i needed at least 2* everything to go on to tier 2. So right now i have all cobalt stuff. Cobalt helm, armor, the defender, the caliber, and the voltech alchemer. I know that's not enough to get past tier 2 and im at the bare minimum requirements to only GET to the BEGINNING of tier 2.
I'm quite new to the game, ive currently got full 3 star gear and im looking for the best way to make crowns. I want to know what the best gate is, Should i solo? Tier 1 or tier 2? Etc. Any helpful information would be useful
