So just a few days ago, I faced a problem where my keys would constantly change. I use custom controls and I use Z to attack. But sometimes my attack button changes to W and my move north key turns to Z. This required me to reconfig my keys so Z stood for move north and W for attack automatically reverting it to the original. This problem repeatedly occured the past few days and other incidents included my 'M' key and ':' key being switches, 'A' and 'Q' switches, etc. If anyone could help me sort this out, I would appreciate it. Feel free to ask for anymore clarifications if required.

Bug report submitted!
I reported it as soon as it happened which is quite often. I would appreciate it if it could be looked into soon since it seems to occur often and ruins my runs in-game. Thank you Helios!

Greetings,
I see your bug report, but unfortunately I don't see any odd behavior from the game. Let's try setting your preferred attack key outside of the game to see if something is between the game and where it keeps your control preferences. The instructions below will set your attack key to Z and set the other attack key options to -none-. This setting should not change again unless you decide to change it yourself from in game.
1) Make sure Z is not bound to any other custom controls and then that Spiral Knights is not running.
2) Open Run from the Start Menu or by pressing the Windows Key + R hotkey.
3) In the Run window type reg add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\projectx /v action.keys /t REG_SZ /d "44, 0, 0" and press Enter.
4) A new window will come up asking you to confirm the action, type yes and press Enter.
5) Try playing Spiral Knights normally. Make sure Z works as the attack button and see if it changes somehow.

So it seems that when I press the left shift + alt is when the controls seem to mess up. I used that command for the dash feature. Ive reassigned those and everything is in place now. Thank you for your time Helios!
This is odd since it doesn't sound like the game is reverting to its default controls. After you get an event where the keys revert could you please try sending a bug report? It could be that your custom controls aren't applying properly in the first place.
Also, if you want to clear a key mapping you can click the value you want to change in the Custom Controls screen and press Backspace. This will clear the current key assigned.
