This thread belongs in the suggestions subforum.

And no. You can't unbind steam accounts to normal clients. Sorry.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

There used to be a workaround for this...but it doesn't work anymore.

I've been considering contacting OOO to see if they can unbind mine from steam for a while now, windows is just not working for me anymore and I need to use linux, but wine is buggy and I'd much rather not be forced to use it. Considering that they wouldn't even need to port the game since it's java, I can only assume that they are sitting around twiddling thier thumbs all day as far as making SK available on steam for linux goes. Aside from performance, steam has been having so many issues that i'm just sick of it, so having the option to un-link from steam would be a massive plus, probaby will never happen though =[.

I totally agree with your post, we should be able to log in through the normal downloaded client if steam is not running on our comp at the time. I regret the day I converted my account over to steam and I also think we should be able to unconvert it. +1

@Skyguarder " And no. You can't unbind steam accounts to normal clients. Sorry. " I'm thinking he is already aware of this which is why he created a thread saying we should be able to.

But this won't help solve the problem for those who prefer using steam. We should be expressing our concern to the lazy bums at steam who can't be bothered to fix their own buggy system.

If you really need it, I'm sure the GMs will be kind enough to transfer should you send a support ticket to them. It's no guarantee, though. But I've heard of it happen.

Steam seemed like a good idea at the time , however it has been a total lemon since i transferred the account. Extensive problems with it running my games.

Yeah they really should have fixed the loginbridge instead of disabling it.

I personally don't have my account binded to Steam, but if I did, I totally would also want to unbind it. +1

I haven't been able to play on Steam for ages, so I had to install a Windows client, and then run it with Playonmac T_T For some reason, that works.

You can.

You just have to harass the GMs with lots of support requests, this game on steam is now not accessible from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan. Many of my friends there has already successfully unbound their accounts from this burden called steam.

Steam usually works perfectly fine for me but it's a huge barrier when I want to play SK on my laptop. I've almost posted it a few times, it's just an absolute headache trying to login to Steam. I have to go through a specific ritual every time and even then I'm terrified that that won't work. I waste around 15 minutes with it and sometimes it has taken up 41 minutes of my time. At least I haven't been affected by Steam's latest outage that some have reported.

My personal problems aside, Steam was a good platform to expand onto but a fix for Linux should really be a priority for OOO somewhere in their list of fixes. Has anyone gotten an actual explanation on why Steam is a one-way move? I haven't read anything beyond repeats of the original warning.
