When attempting to run the game I get an error message saying that I do not have the necessary version of Java. According to your minimum system requirements information, I meet all the criteria. I am running Mac OSX 10.5.8, & Java 1.5. Because my version of OSX I cannot upgrade to Java 7, and I can't seem to find a download of Java 6 which is more up to date. Most articles indicate that I should be able to get it by performing a software update, but when I do I receive a message saying I am already up to date.

Simply put, I'd really like to find a way to get past this. I don't know if Java 6 would be adequate enough to overcome the problem, I would hope so. Any input or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Apple Java 6 for Mac OS X
For Java versions 6 and below, Apple supplies their own version of Java. For Mac OS X 10.6 and below, use the Software Update feature (available on the Apple menu) to check that you have the most up-to-date version of Java 6 for your Mac. For issues related to Apple Java 6 on Mac, contact Apple Support.

To me, i think you should contact apple support about it, if you can't/don't want to upgrade your OSX

I'm afraid the OP may be out of luck. Apple no longer supports OSX 10.5. They are not releasing any updates for it, neither Java 6 nor anything else.

They seem to still be releasing security patches for Java 6 on OSX 10.6, but that seems to be the only thing they're supporting on 10.6 any more.

Oracle does not release Java 6 for OSX. Oracle only supports Java 7 on OSX 10.7.3 or higher (but you probably knew that already).

Sorry about that, I forgot to update the Wiki version of the requirements when I updated the Forums copy here a while back. I've fixed it now.

Spiral Knights will not run on on Java 5 on any system. If you are able to obtain and install a Java 6 on your system Spiral Knights should work. However, as others have pointed out, Apple no longer appears to offer support for your system, so you may be out of luck unless you consider updating to OS X 10.6.
