ok so i played about 3 years ago when energy was used to do the arcade and stuff and i come back and energy is now apparently useless except to buy stuff which i'm dissappointed in but i mean like come on, you can't sell the gems u collect in the arcade anymore, i do like the upgrade but i mean srsly, has the value of ce gone down so much that people have 350k of it x.x

Forge system is a necessary evil to keep level progression from feeling meaningless. It does its job well, hate it or not, and you'll be able to get more than enough rads just by doing DFV/floor 27 and 28 arcade arenas. Happy farming!

The Forge does not actually do its job very well at all, it makes it painfully obvious how little of the late-game is actually worthwhile loot-wise and causes many players immense frustration. A better solution to the progression curve would be to make smarter, harder enemies and more complex, longer levels as you approach the Core, to make actually finishing the game a challenge.
Still, it is at least less annoying than Mist. And less P2W-looking.

First, to answer the question posed in your topic: They're obsolete, and have been instead converted to Sparks of Life, which any returning player is immediately mailed upon their first login since the Battle Sprite Update.
Secondly, the value of CE is actually significantly higher than when mist was a thing in early 2011, yet significantly cheaper than when Missions were introduced to allow for faster farming of FSC (mid 2012 to late 2013).
Make of that what you will.
