After playing SK for a while I found lore on Kats, Gremlins, Knights, Emberlights, Owlites, Almirians, Fiends, ect... but, I noticed that there is no story for Strangers other than they own Haven, they sell things, one runs the auction house, they care for Snipes, and they tell the Knights info. So I have a few suggestions for Stranger lore...

- An NPC like the ones in Haven town square that tells you about the Strangers, like a Librarian or something.

- A mission that explains Strangers.

- Clues for their history in missions.

- Or, if all else is just not possible to hide their history because they're strange and mysterious, hid their history in items, materials, maps, and activity.

They are just some maggots that run the market and like I said in other threads, they're probably behind it all and we are stuck on this planet because of them, who do you think LAZOR'd the Skylark into a million pieces? I doubt it was the core down there doing nothing but shutting itself up and being all emo about things, it was the strangers, they are behind everything, they keep us here killing some dumb monsters for coins, running the markets taking 5% of our sales and stuff, I'd not be surprised if they're the reason the core is sealed and we cannot leave this accursed planet-construct-thing.

Mark my words well m8, merchants are evil, they'll do just about anything to turn a profit, ANYTHING!! never trust them.

would not be bad..

would not be bad to have a side story showing the first encounter we had with the strangers. It's funny we call them strangers and that's what we generally refer them as. And yet, the gremlins, the robots, and the devilites are all strangers with some sort of intelligence yet only the strangers got to be refereed to as the "STRANGERS". i find it odd.

A concern on what happened before the knights.

If OOO is reading this, I have an idae if this gets implemented, how the heck did Strangers survive without knights!? The Gremlins are a smart, creative race that is highly aggressive, I mean they shot the Spiral Knights with out question. So how would a race of peaceful, animal loving, merchants, defend themselves from the Gremlins? Did they have other allies that died/ left them? Did they build machines like the Gremlins did? Did Emberlightians help them? Or, is it something deeper? Maybe the Strangers are actually strong creatures! Whatever it is, they need more development!

@Drakyu:
they did mention that the strangers were not in any kind of conflict until we arrived and drew attention towards them.

there is no evidence if conflict before knights come

the gremlins refer to knights as "iron invaders" in built to destroy

they only come up with project r: the roarmulus twins AFTER we come
showing they want to destroy haven because of us, not the strangers

also if there was conflict basil wouldnt be travelling into enemy territory anyways

Evidence..

@Drakyu:

this mission "6-2 Target Acquired" has the details regarding bringing the strangers down with us when you speak with "Agent Kora".

http://wiki.spiralknights.com/List_of_missions#Rank_Missions

if you want the full details, you will have to go in game and speak with agent kora.

Disproving evidence..

It doesn't give a date on when project R was started in the mission "Target Acquired", it could have been being developed before knights came, I mean making massive, gun puppies made of nearly indestructible metal, that can fire off massive lasers that kill within a second of contact, 6 rockets that deal amazing amounts of damage that can pierce a nearly indestructible metal/alloy, fire off a barrage a 20 or so energy balls after firing said rockets, fire off a barrage of rockets, that deal a little less than the first rockets, stop for a second to change position, and then repeat without taking more than a second pause, wouldn't exactly take a day or two. And, @Vohtarak, Basil is keeping within clockwork terminals which enemies don't spawn in, and he could (if my theory that Strangers actually have hidden strength) could get through the clockworks, or take a secret passage that only he knows of.

well..

@Drakyu:
what i am saying is that the knights are the one who initiated conflict between the strangers and the gremlins. the strangers could have the hidden power you mention but probably were not in conflict with any major power until we came and they decided to help shelter us in haven.

@Blandaxt... again

And what I was saying is that the Strangers were in conflict before knights came. When walking to Haven after crossing the chasm, their are ruins of building, and they aren't fresh, the knights haven't been on Cradle long enough that destroyed building wouldn't be covered in moss. Which shows that conflict arose before knights appeared.
