basically you fight the core of the cradle which has been corrupted by the swarm because of herex

the misson would first start out in haven where you have word of a planned gremlin attack from the legion under herex's command
-you basically just have to survive for 5 minutes against wave of gremlin
-when you win you learn this was a decoy or distraction when the camp station near the core is attack by Herex and his most elite gremlin task force and constructs
-by the time you learn it is too late and herex uses the stolen artifact to open the core(assuming it does that) and places a deadly swarm seed of his own creation in the core causing a huge ripple effect across the clock works

the next 3 levels are each in the depths of tier 1 , 2, and 3 but all play as the straum 6 or 7!?!?!? due to the swarm infecting everything in your path and making them super powerful and between the levels you go to moorcraft manor and emberlight which are both in a panic (moorcraft is being over crowed due to the worried kats taking shelter there)

the final fifth level would be depth 29 where you must take on the core itself which takes on the form of the symbol that represents them... the eye which is made of the many small black squares and is shift and moving but still form the eye

it would have 2 stages where it just has the swarm on the core with the black figure shape of a closed eye

the second phase would be the core opening to represent the pupil of the eye but would be the reverse of the symbol where the pupil is pinkish and the eye is black.

so what do you think about it good or nah

also scuttle bomb a thing?

it shoots sticky bombs and when health is low it goes near a knight to blow up

Hm.

I've never been much of a fighter for the idea that we fight the core, but rather whatever is inside the core. Whatever is inside is either being held there for safekeeping, or is imprisoned there against its will - whether or not that's a good thing is for us to find out.

If we're going to be passing through Moorcroft and Emberlight, I sure hope we'd be able to fight off waves of enemies while doing so. Would also be a great way to have a non-event Margel show up too. (Maybe? No good drops though)

I see the core as being an opportunity for a horde mode myself. A boss fight inside that horde mode would be welcome though.

My Theory On The Core.

Before reading this my main point is - isn't this more suited to the Gremlin Chatter forum?

Many years ago the Knights Of The Spiral Order battled against the Morai and as the battle started working against the Morai, alot of them fled. The Order finished off the Morai on the planet, liberating it.
Meanwhile the fleeing Morai pick up a massive energy signal; Cradle. Braving the dangers the Morai manage to make it to the very source of Cradle's energy and decide they shall make this energy source their home. In order to understand it better they enlist the work of the Gremlins by building a simple machine called "King Tinkinzar" that is basically a giant tin thing with a speaker in it that relays what the Morai say. The gremlins worship the King and follow it's orders.
Meanwhile on Isora, the Knights are running out of power and decide that they will have to look elsewhere, so they take to the stars. Soon enough they stumble upon a point of massive energy and send out a team to research it - The Alpha Team.
Back on Cradle the Morai are further doing research into the core when something goes wrong. Radiation from their new-found energy source leaks out, corrupting any life it comes into contact with. The Void is born. The birth of the void causes a massive Electromagnetic Pulse to surround the planet, knocking the Skylark out of the Sky and breaking off communications with the Alpha Team.
The Alpha Team are caught right in the middle of the Void, trying to fight it off, but eventually it becomes too much. The Morai intercept and capture the Alpha Team. Now they have realised the Knights are on Cradle the Morai seal themselves away with the energy source, whilest relaying orders to the Gremlins via monitors telling them it's from King Tinkinzar.

Uh...

The Morai aren't on Cradle. The Spiral Order itself hasn't "won" the war on Isora, hence their scouting ship finds a source of energy on cradle. Originally we crash-landed, but now it looks more like cradle flipped us the bird and shot a deathstar beam at us and we ended up being here.

This thread is a suggestion. It is in the correct forum. This is not a thread speculating what the core is, it is one saying what sort of gameplay should be there. Plus, if it was a speculation, it would belong in general discussion, as gremlin chatter is for off-topic (i.e., non-Spiral knighty things) discussions and threads that I would classify as spam(looking at you, count to 5,000 thread).

@Fangel

You mean the count past 5000 for no real reason thread?

They won the war on Isora. My reasoning is that if you are losing a war you evacuate your most important scientists and fighters (and the rich). As-long as the big names in the Morai ranks were killed and there were no more Morai on the planet the SO would claim victory.

Back to the original post :-: if the void was large enough to infect the core then wouldn't it be more noticeable? Not only that but, just because it's infected the core becomes an eye? And then that infected eye is the symbol of the void...even though the infection came later than the existence of the void...?

Chaos, the reason he skylark exists is because the knights needed an energy source to save isora, the morai wars are still happening, that's not up for speculation, those are the facts

Err...

As Oohnorak here said, the Morai wars are still very much happening. The knights didn't win any war on Isora - we fled. We were almost driven to extinction, as the new character opening cinematic states. We began a search for a high energy source to turn the tide of the war, then we got stranded here.

The Swarm is not noticeable throughout the clockworks, although it takes up 4 separate elevators that mimic boss gates. There's also a lot of empty space on cradle that the swarm can just, be in. It could be in all those tubes all over the place and we'd never know.
I reckon you probably haven't done a run down a shadow lair yet. If you get the chance try it out - you'll know what the swarm is and what it can do.

We didn't win the war on Isora? When does it ever say that?

It's somewhere in the dialogues in the game, its an NPC, or one of the missions that states it, it states that we fled from Isora, and Morai wars still continue. In other words, Fangel is right, we never won it, but we also never lost it, since the war still continues.
