As most of you know, Lockdown has become really unbalanced over the past months. Black Kat sets, a gun that can still shoot through walls with charge attacks even though they claimed to fix it(Overcharged Mixmaster), etc. Lockdown brings out the "pay to win" aspect of Spiral Knights, since to win, you'll want a good PC to avoid lag, gear with overpowered Unique Variants(UVs), such as Attack Speed Increased: Very High(ASI VH) and such. However, I am not suggesting to improve the current Lockdown. Instead, I suggest ADDING a new Lockdown mode, in which all UVs and regular variants(such as ASI Medium on Vog) are disabled, and "promotional weapons"(weapons that aren't obtained through normal means, such as from Prize Boxes, excluding reskins). Trinkets would also be disabled, to keep this new mode as balanced as possible. This new mode would still have the same "capture the points" playstyle", same arenas, and such. In this mode, players would have to rely solely on their skill to win, which would make it possibly fairer and funner for players that can't obtain overpowered gear. Let me know what you guys think, and how this can be improved.

Although this would be a good idea for the players; it wouldn't be great for OOO.
The reason I have for this is that OOO releases their prize boxes for more money. If they've resorted to such a method then they evidently need the money. If you take prizebox weapons out of the game then less people will buy them and OOO will lose money.
There are certain fixes to fix lockdown, and this really isn't one of them.
Restricting the player makes them less likely to play that minigame. Players LIKE to be overpowered, believe it or not. They just dislike when others are overpowered.
A better way to fix lockdown is to make the players themselves all overpowered, but in doing so make them weak to very specific tactics. This means players who all are using the same "overpowered" sets, piece for piece, will all be on the same "skill level", because no-one is abusing their weakness. Once someone does, you'll get a more varied team as the game goes forwards.
I would suggest to revamp the health trinkets to be percentage based, and keep the true love lockets as a base "HP upgrade". I believe certain armor classes (in full sets) should react to different lockdown classes accordingly (wolver + striker = 10% faster movement while boosting, plate armor + guardian = sword ASI: high), and that family bonuses should be applied to different lockdown shields (wolvers + fiends = striker. Gremlins + slimes = recon. Constructs + undead = guardian). The first and last suggestion alone would make lockdown more fun.
I think that making each player a "specialist" with armor + class shield would make the game a lot less frustrating. It also means all armors have a place in lockdown instead of just being "use chaos/black kat and wide hitting weapons".
