Well you know that hitting other players gets you damage, so i'll just give you the little tip that players are usually capping points, so go defend them instead of spawncamping their side like some do to get damage, which is the wrong way and a Dbag move. (But it depends on the match, anyways.)
Striker and Swords are the easiest way to get dmg since you can get to other places quickly to kill, and kill quickly aswell if done successfully, but I recommend also having a gun, just rushing in with only swords may get yourself killed if you're fighting a group.

Also remember that you need 2 Penta Trinkets and a set that gets you damage bonus, it's really useful for increasing those points, swords like Gran Faust/Divine Avenger also help a lot.

Target the least skilled or weakest player in LD, you can get more hits on them and thanks to their gear they take more damage from your hits. Unfortunately this has the negative side effect of driving newer players away from LD forever.

But knowing which players are bad and good helps you decide if it's worth draining all your boost on and go for combo or just stay on your guard and not die. Although you'll probably have to be able to 1v1 anyone on the opposing team to get full effect out of your "farming".

If I'm recording a match for damage, here are a few things i will do! (Assuming you are taking the position of a striker)

=====Gear=====

     Set 1:
        Helmet - Black Kat Cowl
        Armor - Ancient Plate Mail
        Trinket - Penta Heart (x2)
        Weapon 1 - Barbarous Thorn Blade (Attack Speed Increase: High)
        Weapon 2 - Divine Avenger (Attack Speed Increase: Very High)
        Weapon 3 - Empty
        Weapon 4 - Empty

     Set 2:
        Helmet - Skolver Cap (Normal Defense: Maximum!)
        Armor - Skolver Coat (Normal Defense: High)
        Trinket - Penta Heart (x2)
        Weapon 1 - Barbarous Thorn Blade (Attack Speed Increase: High)
        Weapon 2 - Argent Peacemaker (Attack Speed Increase: Medium)
        Weapon 3 - Divine Avenger (Attack Speed Increase: Very High)
        Weapon 4 - Empty

====Strategy====

GOLDEN RULE: TIME = DAMAGE = MONEY = BACON = SAD PIGS = HAPPY BULLS

     I. Let your opponents LIVE.
           ° If you allow your opponents to heal, they will come back in a mere 3 seconds compared to a respawn time of 20!

     II. Save yourself.
           ° You may get called a noob for running, but the same concept applies; either heal in 3 seconds, or respawn in 20.

     III. Know your opponents health.
           ° This might take some practice, but it's essential to damage farming.
           ° Depending on how little/much health your opponent has, you may want to hit with a lower damage dealing weapon first.
              (i.e. hit once with BTB then hit with DA, rather than hit once with DA and K.O. This mainly applies to strikers without trinks)

     IV. Health and Damage are NOT the same!
           ° Your opponent may have 1% of health left, but your DA swing will still deal the full amount of damage as if he had 100%!

     V. Go to points.
           ° Most opponents will be found trying to capture your points or neutral points! Go to them! (Don't sit at the spawn like an F)

     VI. Strength in numbers.
           ° Teaming up with a guardian bomber is the perfect opportunity to score some easy damage.
           ° Use their shield to heal, and their mist bombs to shelter you. When an enemy steps in, BOOM! they're toast.

     VII. The lone wolf.
           ° Contrary to the last strategy, try to stay away from other strikers. You might just be wasting your time in their shadow. Find
             fresh meat! (Unless it's bacon D:)

     VIII. Keep the match going!
           ° The biggest mistake people make is focussing too much on killing and not paying attention to the team point total! Uncap
             enemy points or let them capture yours to even out the score, ensuring that the game timer runs the full 8 minutes.
           ° Remember: 5 base maps go till 900 points, 3 base maps go till 500.

     IX. Guns.
           ° Don't recommend guns for damage, however I highly recommend them for stunning your opponent, and quickly running in
             and giving them a swipe! (Antigua line guns are great for this, that is, if you can aim them)

===Conclusion===

LD is a very unforgiving, unbalanced place. It's easy to be hostile and rage and hate everyone, but in my opinion, the best way to play LD is lightheartedly and with friendship and fun as your main goal, because in the end, you will either emerge hated by everyone in the LD community, or meet cool people and make lots of friends!
