Gun for vanaduke

Hi. I was looking for a gun i can use for vana runs,
I mainly use a combuster with skovler set (classic set, i know) and an aegis..
I dont know what gun i should make, i dont like autoguns alot as they slow me abit, but if they are the best choice i guess i can try,
Idealy i would like something fast like valiance, but i dont think that is good for vanaduke

I should have know there would be alot of threads. thou with the gunslinger update i thought that maybe the older theads could be wrong

I usualy play solo or with one friend who is tier 3
does anyone in your party use Shivermist Buster (which is popular with new players)?

I have,but i have never defeated him :(
do you prefer to kill the slag guards or leave them alive?
They dont usualy disturb me alot so they can be alive.
Do you find the Vanaduke fight laggy?

Shivermist Buster helps inexperienced players in certain fights, and particularly the Vanaduke fight. The idea is that one knight keeps Vanaduke (and slag guards, if possible) frozen, and the other delivers very large charge attacks (hence an autogun). But experienced players often skip the freeze and just spray him with charge attacks to kill him as fast as possible.
So don't get Shivermist Buster right away. Practice fighting Vanaduke without it. If you can't beat him and are getting too frustrated, then get Shivermist Buster. But you might use it about 10 times and then stop using it. Like everything else in this game, the Vanaduke fight comes down to knowing his AI.
If you're not using freeze, then here are two strategies for a two-knight party:
A. Both of you use autoguns or other weapons with big charge attacks. You each try to kill one slag guard as soon as it spawns. Then you both charge at Vanaduke until he dies.
B. Both of you use regular attacks from mobile guns such as blasters, alchemers, pulsars, etc. You circle Vanaduke, peppering him with shots, slowly wearing him down. And here's the key part: You circle together, nearly on top of each other. Why? Because if one of you is behind the other, then the slag guards will charge at the first knight, miss her, and hit the second knight.

Thanks for the tatics and info . I presume B can also work solo? Either way i am gonna search for new shield ( althou i really like the design of aegis).

Yes, both A and B work solo. I've soloed tactic B with Nova Driver, Storm Driver, Hail Driver, Argent Peacemaker, Polaris, old Callahan, Blitz Needle, and Valiance. Tactic B doesn't work well in a party of 4. Tactic B definitely doesn't work if one of the teammates is trying to freeze Vanaduke.

Questions about equipment for Vanaduke are asked all of the time. Try searching Google (or another search engine --- not the forums' built-in search) for something like vanaduke gun site:forums.spiralknights.com. You will find many, many threads.
Yes, autoguns (particularly Blitz Needle) are popular. Yes, Valiance works. Many guns can be used to kill him.
If you want more specific advice, then try giving us more specific information: Do you play in a party, or solo? Does anyone in your party use Shivermist Buster (which is popular with new players)? Have you ever fought Vanaduke? Do you prefer to kill the slag guards or leave them alive? Do you find the Vanaduke fight laggy?
Combuster is great for Firestorm Citadel. Skolver is great as long as you can stay alive. Aegis is terrible; many shields would be more useful to you here and elsewhere.
