Is it pronounced "valkyREE" or "valkyRYE"?
Because I think the latter sounds better.

As in "would you like a valk-a-rye, valk-a-wheat or a valk-a-white on your angelic sandwhich today?"

huh

Perhaps it's just my upbringing, but I've always pronounced it ""valk-ree", with no real emphasis on the y. I guess this is mainly because I've never heard 'Ride of the Valkyries' pronounced 'Ride of the valky-RYEs'.

Now you've got me questioning my entire existence. Great.

IE?
Just a Y?

I've always pronounced it with emphasis on the Y as "EE" or "IH" and then -RIE as RYE. So like, "val-ki-rye" instead of "valkree" or "valka-ree".
sounds better imo

Hello Darkness, my Old Friend.

It's way easier for me to say 'ValkREE' though without any emphasis on the Y.
