Question on trinkets

OK, I have 2 Penta-Heart Pendant trinkets. I have been using them for months. However, I am aware that top players do not use health trinkets. Instead, they usually use offensive trinkets on their armour.
The question is, are health trinkets really useful to top players? What are the recommended trinkets for experienced players?

The attitude is that "real players" don't get hit in the first place. So they go for pure offense. And there's some merit to this argument. If you kill monsters faster than your neighbor, then you are in risk for less time.
In reality, it all hinges on learning the monster AI. It's tragicomical to see a knight, who has mastered King of Ashes, drop into Heart of Ice, Grinchlin Assault, March of the Tortodrones, etc. and get beat up. Many knights suddenly want more defense.
I don't blame them. They're playing the game that's been made. If King of Ashes were suddenly re-themed for sleep (King of Naps?) then there would be a shift in equipage.

If you don't have totems you're not a real player because you didn't pay to be one and you should leave the game.
I'm assuming you're not talking about pvp here, in pvp 2xheart trinkets are what most people use to take an extra hit or two.
in most pve missions/clockworks you can usually rely on getting a vitapod so health is less important, usual ones are ctr trinkets if you like using black kat gear or damage trinkets for chaos users. Maybe status ones for annoying areas like Compound 42 or Heart of Ice, although if you have good enough uvs on your gear already then you don't need them.
Heart trinkets are still good for tough missions where healing/vitapods are scarce or nonexistent (grinchlin assault, tortodrones)
