As the name implies theres a bot right now that is trading energy by changing their value really fast and making it really hard to buy and sell energy, making the overall experience pretty hard

yeah en trading is a nightmare rn

Yeah it's disgusting and annoying as hell. 100% a bot because it instantly removes orders and places them again based on the price differences, 0 delay.

Right now as of posting, the current tops are
BUY 2751 x 42 SELL 2871 x 39

When I undercut the sell order by 1, it undercuts me 20 seconds later, and when I remove the order, it goes back to what it was 10 seconds later (1 under the next sell order) .
When I overcut the buy from 2751 to 2770 on the buy, 6 seconds later, it 1 upped me and placed an order with the same quantity at 2771 and 20 seconds later it went back down to 2751 when I remove it (1 under the next buy order) .

This seems to be a random timing thing they put in place, probably not to get flagged, but it has a range of (5-20 seconds) for each action it seems.

There is also a range where it's willing to 1 up, if it exceeds it, i.e. if the opposite sides "Profit" margin doesn't meet it's standards, then it starts to instantly remove orders on the opposite sides, and I mean instantly.
The moment I register that my order is in the public list, the opposite one is gone.

For example, As soon as I put a buy for 2780 [up from the 2751] (120 crown difference between BUY and SELL) , the 2871 x 39 sell disappears.

Like, Instantly. I did this over and over putting a 1x buy order for 2780 and the exact instant I placed it the 2871 x 39 disappeared, and when I cancelled it, it reappeared.
Like no delay at all, it's insane.

Similarly, if you put a 2800 sell order, the 2751 x 42 on the buy side instantly disappears. This seems to be some sort of protection put in place.

I'm not saying it's not a bot. It is possible.

But humans can do this, too. For example, it's possible to keep the offer form pre-filled, cancel an offer, then if someone else cancels theirs, reput the pre-filled offer.

Things like that have been going on for years. I assumed, it's just no-lifers trying to make 500cr per hour, but yeah, could also be a bot, especially nowadays. Sometimes it's clear multiple accounts are doing things like that tho. In those cases the speed really doesn't tell anything about whether it's bots, because you can't see how many are trying to undercut each other.

yeah, there have been

yeah, there have been constant bots ruining the energy market. it has been happening since may. whatever actions GH have taken against these bots, if any, have been completely ineffective.

lmao

A bot? Trading energy? In SK?
About as believable as the idea of there being a war in Ba Sing Se

(You can find the code for the bot on github, GH isn't going to fix this though because it's more profitable for them not to fix it. By that I mean they indirectly profit from it being allowed to run rampant.)

GH doesn't profit from it, if it frustrates players enough to quit (or stop spending IRL money) tho
