Ancient armor?

So this is the armor line I've been going down. I'm a new player, so I don't know a whole lot about the game, I simply wanted the armor I thought looked the coolest. And I'm going down the Troika line for a weapon as well, which I'd like to keep. Is this a decent combination? I get a huge health bonus from the ancient line, but it kills my already slow speed with the Troika line. Will this be a large problem later in the game?
Also, I usually solo, or have one friend with me. Also also, I'm looking at the Nightblade line for a secondary blade, will this be sufficient or do I even need to worry about having a second blade?
Basically, should I switch armors if I want to use the Troika line or will Ancient be okay? And what would be a good blade next to the Troika line?

Don't try Troika with
Don't try Troika with Ancient. I got a Avenger which has the same speed as Troika and it is just so so slow and I keep getting hit if I don't aim correctly. An Ancient set will only make matters worse unless you have a speed boost armor (Vog Cub or Fallen) and shield (Swiftstrike).

I would stay away from swords
I would stay away from swords in the Spiral Plate line, unless you're only doing Tier 1. The decreased attack speed leaves a swordsman vulnerable to counterattack (especially a heavy-sword user), but the super-high normal defense gives you near-invincibility on Tier 1.

I thought it was an upgrade
I thought it was an upgrade from Heavy Plate armor? At least that's what the wiki says.

Seems to me like it would be a pretty big liability in lower depths. Never tried that combo though.
