Equipping an item and use it later for a recipe

I bought a Great Defender recipe, and then it was saying that was a special item, and I needed to acquire the Defender item in order to transmute the Great Defender. My question is, can I bound the Defender item and after that, when I want to transmute the Great Defender, may I use the Defender item bounded to me, in order to fulfill the recipe?

Hope it's not to much confuse for you to understand, but I'm afraid to do things wrong.

Yes, you can use bound items

Yes, you can use bound items for a recipe, however, the item that you crafted with a bound item will also be bound.
