With openjdk, I get very ugly chat text. Some thinner text is barely readable (like the one on the "friends options button").
Did someone already take a look at this, try to fix it? Not sure where that font is coming from and how it's rendered... Is SK using swing for this? Tried overriding the font hinting for the java vm, but that didn't seem to change anything.
I have the same problem, using openjre 6 under linux. Any way I can improve my situation?
Use one of the official Sun JRE packages. For some reason the builds that come from Oracle have this problem under linux.
I did a couple of weird stuffs to be able to use OpenJRE7 with Spiral Knights and it apparently fixed the fonts. Seems to fix everything. Following this guide helped me get it working, and it fixed my font problem.
Which JRE are you running it with? JDK is just a bunch of development tools.
