Damage and Weapons not properly balanced?

I'm pretty sure there have been some people, including myself, who seem to favor certain weapons over other weapons due to the damage they deal.
Piercing damage, for whatever weapons deal piercing damage, seems to be the most potent and powerful. Even when it seems I'm equipped with "The PERFECT gear", especially like the Justifer Jacket which is supposed to defend against Piercing, Piercing damage seems to be the most powerful against me no matter what. I often get two-shotted by weapons that deal piercing damage. For example, the Barbarous Thorn Blade, Flourish, and hell a Callahan too on the off chance.
Pure Elemental? Naw
Elemental + Normal? Sure, likely
Pure Shadow? Naw
Shadow + Normal? Yeah, often.
Piercing? Heck yes.
However this does not apply to the Argent Peacemaker or Sentenza (For example) which seem to do very little damage upon contact with an enemy player. Being Piercing + Elemental/Shadow for both guns, it should deal significantly more damage to be on-par with all of the other weapons shown to us in testing (This is my opinion anyway).
Again, I'm sure plenty of you have noticed this or something that is similar to other weapon times in the game. I've only noticed a damage difference between the weapons because I happen to use these weapons quite often during testing. I'm sure there are other weapons out there that display similarities to the ones I mentioned. Has anyone noticed this, or something similar with different weapons?
if you're wearing full vog you die in 1 combo to the da. 3 hits from the first swing though. no clue about skolver

Good to know, maybe this is why the +6 life trinket is available and potentially valuable.

You can see a trend of weapons that work and ones that don't for sure. DA is highly favored and can be devastating. Shock bomb, Shivermist as well. Gran Faust seems to be overused also.

But normally users wouldnt have all these extra things like True Love lockets,Divine Avengers,Gran Faust (which I dont see very often..). I think that it is just preference since they are good in the clockworks aswell. I think other items could work well....which I will hopefully be able to test today.

I will need to agree with the OP. Choice of armor makes little or no difference to how much damage you will take from weapons. It seems that you will still die in 2-3 hits regardless if you have maxed out resistance versus the attacker or none at all. I have hit skolvers with my callahan for much greater damage than I expected. Please make choice of gear defense matter more than it does now.

Yeah, it appears to be more focused on trying to kill the other person before he kills you, and with this new PvP playlist, your regualr shield is absolutely useless. But yeah, defense could be buffed a little, those 3 hit KO's are getting annoying especially when I'm outnumbered.

First of all, a 3 hit KO is NOT the problem, its the defense types not scaling. If I need to get hit 3 times from a weapon to die thats fine by me, its not the easiest thing to hit somebody 3 times.

I have to agree with Vermilion242 and abSTRAkt. There seems to be a defense imbalance with certain damage types.
I would suggest trying to balance out the damage being dealt amongst weapon types: By trying to limit the power that some weapons have, increase the power that other weapons have, and to boost the power of defense types to make it strong enough to block enemy attacks.
This is to put it simply.

I wear full skolver, as I rolled an asi low on the weapon I like using most, so I end up with max damage and max asi after trinkets, etc. And yet often I am dead (having full health before getting hit) after the first two hits of a BTB. For sure I'm dead if I get hit by all three, usually thanks to lag. What's up with that?

Everyone's using the same items. The grand Faust and the divine avenger.need a little nerf. I hardly see any other weapons being used

The Flourish/BTB are a much better choice than the DA/GF just because they so freaking fast.
Now may be a good time to buff the defense scaling of armor as attack speed is just too important in PVP right now.
If you are hit with a damage type that you have NO defense against, then it should be a 1-2 hit kill.
Otherwise if you have doubled up piercing defense and get hit by a final flourish, it should not do as much damage as it does now.
To go along with this I think that vog and skolver should have their respective defense stats nerfed some.
I have noticed that the Barbarous Thorn Blade and DA are extremely popular. I wonder if somebody in full vog would die in 2 shots from a DA and if somebody in full Skolvers would die in 2 shots from the Thorn Blade? Would be interesting to know.
