Server location (and is there any point in playing from Asia?)

Can I say "LAGGGGG"?

I am getting hit by invisible things all the time (ok I'm exaggerating a bit, but I do get hit a lot when it gets hectic, and I'm not liking it one bit) Is there any chance of playing from Asia, or should I just quit while I'm ahead?

Lower the graphics level

It should help some, but you have to stay loyal to playing because eventually OOO will fix this problem of foreign lag servers

Well, I know that it has

Well, I know that it has nothing to do with the system itself. When you play from long distance, you would expect lag--it's normal. The only way to fix it is to put up a server in that area. But is there any hope for such a big venture on their part?

they are currently using the

they are currently using the ec2 servers from amazon i believe
and i think amazon only have those servers in us and eu atm
sk is only hosted on the US ones i think

so people like you and me will always get horrific lag...
either skill up and deal with the lag, or find another game

i'm not saying that you have no skill, I'm just saying it requires more skill to play and compensate for the lag

I'm playing from Hong Kong

And for most of the time I have a single red dot in connection speed display. Sometimes I get two yellow bars.

I've made peace with the high ping though. I don't run into things 99% of the time. In fact I don't even want the connection speed to change - when it changes from red dot to yellow bar, the game jerks me around. I'd rather it stays at a single red dot.

I'm from Asia

Im from Indonesia. And this game plays perfectly with only minor lags.
And I only have 1.7 mbp/s Internet which isn't very high.

I'm in Australia

I'm in Australia and I have always a single dot. I have never ever, ever seen a yellow bar on Spiral Knights. I'm fine for Vanaduke and such, but a local server(As in physically local) would be of such a great help.

I'm from Malaysia

Similar to those above, I've only ever seen a red dot, nothing else. My speed is usually around 200kbps, and add the fact that my laptop is really old (6 years old now), lag is a constant parameter while playing SK.

I agree with Broxaim; either skill up or play another game, the chances that a server will be set up in the Asia/Oceanic region are low at best. It might happen eventually, but at the meantime, just play whatever you can with your speed (no Vana and Shadow Lair runs for me, for example)

Meh, seems okay to me.

Might some of this be due to playing on a WLAN? Not all lag spikes are due to server distance.

I'm also from Philippines

Well sometimes it's so slow that I can't do something right and sometimes it's so fast. It's always slow when I am in boss levels(not always but mostly)

Unfortunately, the best way

Unfortunately, the best way is to play during the day. It's mainly bad at night.

PH-based player here as well.

PH-based player here as well. T3 is survivable, even FSC. You may also try to set all of SK's graphic settings to Low just to ensure that you minimize screen freezes.

I'd still recommend that you go with a good group if you want to do T3 runs especially FSC. Consciously guessing where the mobs and hits are coming from can only get you so far when lagging without some form of help from friends.

Do runs until you get familiar with monsters' attack patterns and spawn points - this will increase your rate of survival even with lag. Of course, a 1-2 (or higher...heaven forbid) second solid lag hit will still throw you off your timing when a lot is happening on-screen.
