    Our group decides not to go to the Castle of Ultimate Pain, but instead back into town.

Tired of not having a challenge? Want to fear for your life? Why not try the Castle of Ultimate Pain?

Three options fill with fun, pain and adventure. Though, mostly pain.

Option 1;
You get to face monsters of equivalent strength to Depth 7 monsters. You get two (2) randomly selected status ailments and two (2) damage types at once. Your rewards are 1.1x normal for that depth. Contains 3 levels (drops/descents). Standard energy cost on elevators.

Required equipment to enter, 2* or better.

Option 2;
You get to face monsters of equivalent strength to Depth 17 monsters. You get three (3) randomly selected status ailments and three (3) damage types at once. The damage types and status ailments change per depth. Your rewards are 1.3x normal for that depth. Contains 4 levels (drops/descents). Standard energy cost on elevators.

Required equipment to enter, 4* or better.

Option 3;
You face monsters of equivalent strength of Depth 28 monsters. You get four (4) randomly selected status ailments and all four (4) damage types at once. The status ailments change per depth. Your rewards are 1.5x normal for that depth. Contains 5 levels (drops/descents). Standard energy cost on elevators.

Required equipment to enter, 5*

How do you suggest we keep 4*/5* players out of Level 1 to keep them from farming it over and over?
Maby the game can assign you to the proper place based on your PVE level? But, I know that the PVE level is not very accurate as I can have mostly 0* gear and a single 4* item yet, I am PVE T2.

Suggestions? Hate? Likes (Doubt that)? Post em.

The second one sounds like a lot of fun. The last one though just seems like pure madness.

Something makes me think you haven't run shadow lairs if you think the game needs to throw that many status effects at us to offer a challenge.

You want challange? equip

You want challange? equip 0*-1* star gear and do T3.

Just having different damages around doesn't mean anything since the game is about dodgin enemies and not being hit anyways - FSC for example has all damage types covered(zombies/oilers/turrets/trojans/wolvers).

Also many status? sometimes a gate is so random that you may suffer from this challange between levels, just not all at once.

No, not really. Also, having different damage types does matter. There's a reason people still bring shadow resistance to UFSC even though there are many other damage types. Damage protection is worthwhile all other things equal.

And low level gear runs aren't very fun because why even have high level gear if you're not able to use it in challenging content? Defeats the whole point of progression. Maybe once or twice for kicks, but not something you'd do repeatedly.

Khamsin, I haven't even made

Khamsin, I haven't even made it to Emberlight. I get about 1/2 way down in T2, then Shadow damage overwhelms me. Though, I do solo runs.

I ask for suggestions/comments so people can make this a better idea (or is it even a good idea in the first place?).

Too overboard for the most

Too overboard for the most part. 4* players aren't going to handle 3 statuses at once. Especially when they're random. At minimum you're going to need 5* players for that sort of thing.

Anyways, I had an idea for something like this before - some sort of arena where you spin a wheel that determines random status and monster types, but it'd be far too luck based. Some combinations are just deadlier than others. It could be fun, but it wouldn't be all that fair. Compare fire and shock undead and construct to say, shock and freeze devilite and jelly. One has an mix where standard stuff like COA, vog cub, etc holds up extremely and the theme combinations appear on gear that players own, as well as both monster types being weak to the same damage type, and in general undead are just easier. The other one has a non-standard mix of themes, and the monsters are resistant to the weakness of the other. Also, the monsters that you'd be facing would just be harder - devilites mixed with quicksilvers and ice cubes would be a heck of a lot harder than zombies, scuttlebots, retrodes, etc.

Three statuses could be fun... for end-gamers and in a specific combination. Say, poison, freeze, and curse. Fire and shock are a "natural combo" on the gear is seems like, as are poison and freeze. Also, curse appears on shadow resistance gear as well, sort of fitting in with the shadow resistance crowd. If the damage types were limited to mostly shadow and perhaps a limit of another damage type (pierce?), then you could combine three status types at once. But just in any random order... that wouldn't work.

Only

Only if it requires a "Entrance Ticket" to participate that you obtain as a rare prize from an "Iron Lockbox" after opening it with a "Silver Key". This idea I just thought is such brilliant design, everyone will be searching in Iron Lockboxes with much joy ^.^ Of course, the ticket is spent on starting the Castle, because you can't use tickets twice!
