Tried making a Hot Edge (3 red shrads, 2 Brimstones, 200 cr, 10 crystals). The transmogrification (don't know what its called in English, probably conversion, German "Umwandlung") window appears ... and nothing happens. The window stays there, and nothing further happens. Only way out is Escape, upon which all items are gone, but no sword.
