not 100%

but i i've noticed it to. I suspect that you cannot interrupt their attack, similar to that of the FF. It's that or the interrupt isnt happening on teh first two hits from the charge attack, allowing the thwacker to hit you, as well.

That makes sense. If I didn't

That makes sense. If I didn't hit them quick enough, they could've just been continuing their attack (which then could not be stopped). I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like this though :)

Yeah, some tier 3 monsters

Yeah, some tier 3 monsters are much less susceptible to flinching. Lumbers, mecha knights and Darkfang Thwackers are the best example of this. It's irritating to say the least since I got ASI max on my current set and can easily finish my combo but still get hit.

And Shadow Lair...

Flourish/btb is pretty

Flourish/btb is pretty terrible for flinching/interrupts. Most you can do is hit them back far enough to make their attacks miss.

This seems to be more of a skill issue. Ff charges are, compared to regular attacks, long and dangerous. As you knock a monster back, you chase after it. Normally, that is a good thing for dps. But the charge doesn't have a continous hit as wide as the first swing.

learn the AI

Spiral Knights is primarily about skill rather than gear and stats (thank goodness). But most of what constitutes PvE "skill" in this game is learning the monsters' AIs. I have used Final Flourish to utterly demolish gremlins on Tier 3. It is a really good weapon for them --- comparable to Gran Faust, and nearly as good as Acheron. But the charge attack leaves you exposed. If you time it correctly, then the target dies. If you time it incorrectly, then you get hurt. It's all about knowing the AI.

with darkfang thwackers I

with darkfang thwackers I typically attack 1 or 2 swings (on a BTB or Acheron) then shield. If you don't, you'll probably be getting hit by their swing coming in. I love the BTB and Acheron Charge attack for Gremlins because they both knock them far enough back that if you don't kill them, they won't be able to retaliate.

Don't use charge attack (constantly)

Use your normal swings. With acheron I can knockdown thwackers on the third swing without getting hit at all. Then while they're down I proceed to finish them with a couple more normal swings. Too many people these days rely so heavily on charge attacks. Don't be one of those people, it makes you play worse. It doesn't matter if you get in a couple charge attacks here and there, but if you're someone who spams charge attacks I recommend that you stop. If you want to attack from a safe distance then don't be a swordsman, use guns.
