so I was at haven chilling out until someone said "No UV on your owilitte? Wtf is wrong with you" Then a bunch of people started to inspect me and said the same thing. X_X Do I really need to have a UV on my wise owilitte shield?

As far as I know shields UVs are least significant ones. Those guys were probably some new players.

Either you got trolled or

Either you got trolled or they are newbies who don't know what they are talking about.

First, as Merethif said, shield don't benefit that much from UVs : this is an offensive game, and UV you can get hardly make a difference on shield. In most cases (unless you talk about UV normal : max), it isn't even going to change the number of hits your shield can take.

And anyway, you are better off getting everything to 5* before even thinking about UVs. The 4*->5* transition makes a whole lot more impact than the no UV -> UV transition.

They were these players with full 5* gear with alot of fancy UVs, I guess I got trolled XD

And yes I am transitioning into 5* but almost done with it. I also have high freeze on my ash tail cap (might be a good thing to get vog cub cap) and low shadow and elemental on my skolver coat. All were just from crafting my first dusker set.

Oh, last option I forgot : elitist jerks.

Anyway, you got lucky with your UVs. Chances to have UV are low, and you had good ones with that.

The only thing wrong with a

The only thing wrong with a wise owlite shield is if you're using it in a level with no elemental damage and no fire or shock conditions. Obviously, you want to eventually upgrade it to a grey owlite shield, but four star gear is viable throughout tier 3.

And complaining about no UV? How absurd. Having the right tool for the job beats the wrong tool with an extra star and a max UV.

I do a lot of FSC runs so my owlitte is actually useful. And yes I am upgrading it into a grey owilitte.

On the other hand

mediocre shield UVs are extremely cheap. If you were starting the Owlite line fresh, I'd say definitely pick up a Med Normal or something for like 7kcr at auction.

But it's nothing worth getting a whole new shield over when you already have it at 5*.

(I have Max Stun on mine, because both my connection and my skills are terrible, so I keep getting thwacked by Lumbers. Good players with decent connections don't care how good their shield defences are because they dodge everything possible; that's why you'll see them running with BTS and SSB no matter the level.)

BTS gives Med Sword Damage

BTS gives Med Sword Damage bonus and is a great piercing shield for sword users. If you use swords, it should probably take priority over the royal jelly shield. It is also serviceable in non-pierce areas since it'll take a few hits from most monsters. I typically swap my BTS out for a Crest of Almire when playing fiend based stages or I'll swap it out for a Grey Owlite Shield if I know I'm going to be surrounded by Gun Puppies.

SSB isn't that great unless you gun. It'll break from 1 hit of pretty much anything in T3. I do have one, and I use it on occasion, but mostly when I'm in an easy area or have this crazy idea that I need ASI Ultra.
