The wings and Rose costumes were nice, but they were costumes and accessories; as are the cake costumes we had for the first anniversary. I agree other games have significant events for their first anniversaries, but what else could they do? They could have done half-off elevator charges for a couple weeks but that would hump the economy. If they reintroduced those old frivolities their prices would diminish due to greater availability.

If they make an armor, not a costume but an actual armor, only available during the anniversary it would push players to obtain and sell it for ridiculous prices, regardless if its stats are worth using. They were probably scrambling for what to do for the anniversary and decided to go with cake costume helmets. Any new content only available for the anniversary would inevitably be reimplemented every anniversary or become a permanent addition, contradicting with the point of the special annual event. For example, say they made a minigame specifically for the anniversary; people would want it all year round, others would hate it for whatever reason. Would they want to deal with that?

Sorry, i meant a costume set, not an armor set.
Half-off elevator costs would have been nice, but wouldn't make people with elevator passes happy.
Hm... I guess you are right about the new content thing, they would just re-use it ever year and would get boring.

Still, would have really liked a costume set, and not one birthday themed, just something cool.

All you gotta do is look at Runescape. Not hard to figure out.

My main problem with the event was that it was just mainly an excuse to have another Promo.

When you have a Birthday Celebration, you're supposed to use it as an opportunity to thank your players for keeping your game alive long enough that you can celebrate a Birthday Event in-game at all.

What really happened was people just did the same thing they always do, with an additional promo that didn't even have all that many nice items in it and got a hat that isn't even that good.

I would have preferred that the confetti acted more like a one time use item, that when used in proximity to other people who are also using or about to use their confetti, would sometimes give out items. And the confetti was buyable for a certain amount of Cake Slices or you got a stack of them in accordance with how much energy you bought. Or special confetti with a chance of giving out rare items only available with the real money purchase.

This way people would group together to celebrate, get free items for playing and amidst the celebration/confetti spamming, Devs could jump on and do some of those crazy effects from the end of the preview event and just hang out and do crazy stuff.

I don't think anybody appreciates boss reskins or farming prestige missions as much as they appreciate potentially free stuff and a chance to meet the Devs and wish Spiral Knights a Happy Birthday.

But I guess it's too late now.

Exactly! This is a birthday celebration, it would have been real nice if they gave everyone some free stuff.
I think the promo items would have made nice gifts, not something i really want, but it would have been cool.
Also would have been awesome to meet the developers and would make the players feel special.
