Make it an option like autotarget so that it can be turned on or off at our discretion.

Ummm... -1.

Because I think it would not be very useful:

Keys - you only need to use it near and facing a locked gate. No auto-target required.
Statues - they are made of magnets now, just put it down anywhere close to a pressure plate and it will snap to it. No auto-target required.
Vials - 90% of the time you are trying to inflict status on a crowd. With auto-target you end up throwing it directly at the nearest foe, affecting only the few in front of the crowd. Therefore auto-target is useless for vials.
Water in FSC - When putting out shadow fire, it's the same as vials. Throwing water to put out fire on a teammate would prove difficult if there are any other targets about.

The only place it would help is for throwing water at Vana's mask. In all other times you end up just disabling the auto-target.

Try not to aim merely with direction alone. The further away the target the more inaccurate you will be, if the angle is off by just a little bit. Instead, put your cursor directly over your target - then you will not miss.

Miscommunication

This thread is to disable the recent update which gave arrows indicating direction while holding a projectile, not making it auto-target. Some users prefer to play without the distraction.

Not sure what you just read...

I was using autotarget as an example.

i.e. you can turn autotarget off if you don't like it.

You should be able to turn targeting arrow off if you don't like it.

edit: ninja'd in my own thread.
