heh

you're the buyer, you make the offers good enough for sellers :P

we have no interest in spending real money for you all to try to see how low we'll go. If we wanted crappy ce/$ rates we'd just buy from OOO

Oh snap.

Randomzz is right, though. There's no lack of buyers for TL2.

FWIW, I just sold a copy to a friend for the equivalent of 8k CE. Also had an offer from a stranger for 8.5k CE, which I rejected--if profit's the priority (i.e. I have no personal reason to sell cheap), I'm far better off holding the game till launch, when I can sell it at or near full price. (Currently, the expectation seems to be that the seller will get the 4-pack and pass the savings on to the buyer. It's unclear to me why this should be so.)

as someone who just bought 3

as someone who just bought 3 copies out of a 4 pack with ce, my viewpoint was this: buyer pays $60 for 4 copies of tl2, or $15 per game. they keep one, so that's $45 worth of games. my proposal totaled an easy 28500 ce for the seller by selling 2 copies of the original tl1 that came along. at $45, 28500 ce was over 600/$.

the other way of looking at it: at the standard 550/$, (again taking into consideration an easy price to get for tl1) I paid for almost $52 of the $60 purchase. the seller got tl2 for $8, and then got $52 of ce at the standard ce/$ ratio.

this was a deal specifically worked out. if you haven't worked out a deal, don't expect to have your copy priced at $15.

see

The point is though, the buyers should be making us offers, not the other way around. Plus it seems a little lazy considering I can find at least 3 people selling steam games that they could just contact instead of making a separate thread.

yeah but the problem is i

yeah but the problem is i have no cleu what the CE/€ (yes european) ratio is let allone what price it is in $ (prices varry A LOT) so i'm not trying to find the lowest price, i'm trying to get the normal price people want to sell it for. getting the CE won't be much of a problem if i just know what to aim for. (and quiting SK so yeah)

so if you could only shoot me the normal price equivelant in CE (not the price in dollar/euro) would be apreciated ^^

My 2c (hope they help!)

Okay, the standard rate is 550 CE/US$. (Desperate game sellers will go lower; sellers who don't really need the CE will want a higher rate. Duh.)

In most regions (all that I know of at the moment), TL2 pre-order is US$20 for one and $60 for a four pack. Each copy comes with a free TL1 that's a separate, tradeable game. But one copy of TL2 binds to the purchaser, as well as one copy of TL1 *unless* the purchaser already owned TL1.

So it's kind of complicated. Is the game seller buying a single or a 4-pack? If a 4-pack, and assuming the seller is interested in the game him/herself, how should the cost savings be divided between buyer and seller? How to factor in the bonus TL1s? And so on.

Which is why you're really better off opening with a (suitably understated) estimate of what you're willing to pay, rather than leaving that totally open. It's really messy otherwise.
