inconsistent damage in Legion of Almire

Playing through Legion of Almire, I noticed some odd damage stats.

At Depth 24, using Medium Vs Undead damage bonus + V.High Sword damage bonus, my first two Glacius swings deal 390 damage to Dust Zombies, Spookats and Howlitzers, but deal 352 damage to Almirian Crusaders (the same damage that loadout does to Lumbers on the same level.) Using Maximum Sword damage bonus, Glacius deals 390 damage to all the above monsters at Depth 24.

I also noticed severely decreased damage dealt to zombies and howlitzers in certain areas, but the discrepancies only seem to occur in the resurrection radius of a Deadnaught (and possibly the Grim Totems now) so I suspect that may be intentional instead of a bug. If it is intentional, it begs the question of why there is no "Defense Up!" message or green aura as there is for other mechanics where monster defense is increased, or indeed any indication at all besides the decreased damage numbers. This is deeply frustrating, particularly since the defense buffs appear to stack on Undead within multiple radii.

On further observation, the decrease in damage to zombies and howlitzers is not connected to the resurrection rings (it also occasionally pops up on spookats and even Deadnaughts) It seems to only happen in rooms with Deadnaughts, but I have struck zombies within the ring for regular damage and outside the ring for decreased damage.

It is tremendously frustrating to tailor a loadout so I can theoretically kill a howlitzer or spookat in two sword swings, only to find at random moments in these Deadnaught rooms I will need to use three swings to eliminate one of those, a difference that can mean success or failure of a solo run. Please fix this so the damage numbers are more consistent.

Damage has never been consistent.

On a single level, it shoudl be (besides that weird room in d25 of FSC).

"I also noticed severely decreased damage dealt to zombies and howlitzers in certain areas"

I agree with this part but:

"my first two Glacius swings deal 390 damage to Dust Zombies, Spookats and Howlitzers, but deal 352 damage to Almirian Crusaders"

Crusaders are special enemies, it may be ok for then to have more defense
