New status ailments

I've been thinking, along with poison, fire and all of the other elemental attacks, there is always room for more. In this case I would be talking about very common ailments in RPGs as a whole, such as:

Charm - makes the victim temporarily switch to the attackers side. Obviously ineffective on bosses, and I guess some powerful mobs. picture could be hearts. Would be good as a possible offensive attack from butterflies in t3 or even gremlin healers.

Horror (or whatever you would name it) - makes the victim flee in the opposite direction of where they were attacked. could make good use of spikes and thorns against players, while adding a way to thin out patches of enemies. would work well in graveyards.

Obviously possibilities grow when you included bombs guns swords and armor in the thought process. Who knows, maybe some armor could look a bit girlier (those pigtails from starter armors) and add some chance to charm.

whatcha think?

Charm Player side - would

Charm Player side - would quickly trivialize arenas and large mob spawns, and make soloing much easier - ie not a big fan of it
monster side - it would mean adding AI for every possible knight in the event they are MCed and would be terrifying to face, for example im a bomber, do you really want an MC'ed gamegeared running around lighting you on fire, poisoning you and them blastbomb spamming you to oblivion in tier 3, or freezing you to let the enemy monsters beating on your frozen self to get to the squishy squishy knight core? And what about people with UVs like attack/charge speed, they would be a nightmare to have mced.

Fear player side - it would be nice to have on frost levels, but i could see resentment from other players that dont want some moron fearing mobs across the map. the only cc we need is frost, knockback and stun. any more and the game becomes too easy
monster side- would only cause player frustration. How would they inflict it? Bombs? spell cast? attack proc? these are important things because it affects its avoidability. But more importantly it would be terribly frustrating to get in a stage 3 arena or a trap filled level and get feared into a slew of spike flames and who knows what else.

If you dont know the effects of fear induced nerd rage please google onyxia wipe animation. that is what happens when you kill us all with fear.

When I got one of the new

When I got one of the new Rose Regalia hats, I noticed that it was checking for two status effects that aren't in the game yet.

Doom, represented by a skull.
Muddle, which is like a squiggly line of sorts.

My guess is that Doom would kill you after a while if the enemy that inflicted it on you wasn't killed.
Muddle would screw up your controls somehow.

They were probably scrapped for obvious reasons, but I'd though I'd mention that.

Yeah, Charm seems like it

Yeah, Charm seems like it could make things really really easy..

Fear is.. I'd rather not see status effects that completely prevent me from doing anything (and that includes any way that Charm could work against players, except maybe just preventing attacks but not interfering with anything else). I mean, with Stun you can barely move but you can still slowly DO whatever you want, and even though freeze keeps you from moving or turning you can still block, attack, switch weapons, etc., and Curse may make it a really bad idea to use half of your weapons and vials and such, but you still have everything else. Having to sit there and watch my character run around without my control would just be unnecessarily frustrating.

If we were going to get an entirely new Status effect, I could see maybe one that reverses the player's movement controls (right becomes left, left becomes right, maybe attack and block switched as well) but before that, I'd like to see them address the Sleep status to make it relevant again. You know, reintroduce monsters who can use it, and COMPLETELY change the way it works on monsters so that it's not far more of a benefit to them than it is any sort of actual attack. (seriously, why do I want to HEAL a monster? I don't care if it gets them out of the fight for... uh... TWO SECONDS. That's stupid. Freeze or even Stun are so much better for crowd control.)

I can see where you are coming from

Yeah, some of the effects could be OP. but, if you can manage to balance it to lets say- 1 charmed enemy at once, only applicable through potions, and for enemies maybe have the chance to get them to work to your favor, perhaps getting heals from a mob or something.

Fear I think wouldnt be too bad. sure it would add some difficulty, but at least its finally a reason to get piercing defense :P.

On the other hand, a good point was raised about sleep. I dont think I have ever used the potion assuming it would work. Why bother keeping it in the game unless its reworked? I mean, it it cced an enemy for 10 seconds, and player for 5 or something, it would be fairly useful.

No.

Freeze can be broken by someone else in the party. Poison, Fire and Curse still give you full control so you can avoid extra damage. Shock only immobilises you occasionally. Stun still allows you to shield. Sleep heals you. With all the current effects, you're still given a means of defense; with Charm/Fear, you have no method of defense or escape. It's fine in a game where being careful is not a matter of life and death, but not in SK. When you give a computer the chance to make deadly mistakes for you, you might as well name the status "Pay 10 CE to revive." It's that overpowered.

Also, side-note: Sleep is not meant for crowd control. If you're trying to use it against a huge angry mob, ur doin it rong.

Fear status already in game

Fear/Horror status is already present in Spiral Knights. This is one of many posts that describes how this status works:

New status

I think charm could work as a vial, even more rare than curse. If 1 charm vial dropped per 8 floors-15 floors i don't think that would be overpowered. Sure it could make 1 floor of an arena a breeze but that's not too bad.

I have a few suggestions:
Shield Lock--cannot block. That would be brutal, lol.
Zombie/undead--like a contagious poison.
Beserk--cannot block but get stronger and stronger until wears off (no effect on bombers)
Blind--decrease hit% or increase monster dodge % vs you
Revive Pill--works automatically on death
Attack/defense Pill--temporary boost
Quicksilver--increased movement speed
Elemental Pill--elemental defense boost
Stoneskin--pierce resistance
Light armor--shadow resist

Note: i'm speaking of all of these (Revive and below) as vials only. For example maybe a 5th vial slot that can only hold an attribute buff vial. Or maybe just uses regular vial spots. Anyhow, as very short duration vials they would not be gamebreaking, and just like our current vials their drop frequency could offset how powerful they are. I.e. the better they are, the rarer they drop. Just like the rare curse vials.

New Status and Pill

Yes.. I agree with Pawn. Charm could work as vial. By the way, I have another status ailment.

BAD STATUS~~

Petrified: Completely freeze like a stone. To avoid it, typing your account name within 2 second. If you late.. you will be DEAD. This ailment can make the player more active at the battle.

Possess: Your attack to your team mates or yourself are now vulnerable.

Stasis: Cannot see map, health and status for a while. (like 18 second)

Confuse: Your control setting will be randomly default.

Fear/Horror: Decrease your status resist by 30 %

Exhaust: Cannot do a charge attack because of the exhaustion. (duration like 14 second)

GOOD STATUS <3

Active Pill (tier2): Can make user immune to sleep and stun. (like 1 minute) The Attack speed will be slightly increase.(using another will extend its duration)

Revival Pill (tier3): Can revive you when dead with a full health. Its a rare pill.

Energetic Medicine (tier3): Can make user immune to sleep and stun. (like 2 minute) The Attack speed will increase. (using another will extend its duration)

Mature Wing Kit (tier3): Another pet. It can heal it user like a silk wing but more slower. (half bar per heal) It weak to piercing and easy to die.

Spike Shower (tier3): Can make user more resist to piercing damage and immune to spike.

Antibody Pill (tier2 and tier3): Defend will be increase.

War Spell (tier3): Attack will increase.

Well, how about

Well, how about I put some more possible status that could be good/bad and even used in some scenarios?

- Low gravity: Afflicted target/s will receive x5 knockback from attacks even if shields/protections block the damage.
- High gravity: No knockback from attacks, nullifies invulnerability time after damage.
- Hyper: Movement speed, weapon attack/charge/enemy attack speed increased to Maximum! for the duration of the effect.
- Deadly: Afflicted target will pierce any defense and any damage reduction gets nullified, making 100% damage with each attack.
