"I cant go adventuring in the clockworks like this! my shield doesnt match my shoes!"
often i've found that my shield just doesnt match my gear or looks pretty plain. shield costumes have been suggested a million times before, and nice though that may be there are other alternatives, though non quite as simple

so my suggestion is adding a colourising accessory for shields, probably only in the general colour variants (dusky, royal, heavy, divine, etc.) that switches the default skin for an alternative colour
yes there are problems with this approach, such as needing a half dozen skins for each shield, though as they are all less then 20kb and recolouring a picture isnt terribly difficult i dont see that as being a huge problem, just annoying for the devs

secondly shield accessories, which has actually come up far less often in these forums than i was expecting, probably due to the obvious difficulty of handling positioning since shields come in a huge variety of sizes and the clipping issues associated with the shield designs
still it would be nice to add some decoration to a shield
- ribbons / medals / seals
- sashes (like the aegis one)
- trophies (claws, wolver tails, teeth, robot parts?)
- extra armour plates
- whatever else would be good on a shield (flowers, emblems, fancy glowing patters)

final point, not shield related
the half dozen accessory types (in the basic colour variants, but not special ones like divine or prismatic) that are available during character creation should be removed from lockboxes and sold in haven bazaar, probably for copious amounts of crowns

i agree with recoloring

i agree with recoloring the shields, but putting accessories up for sell for a set amount of crowns depending on the amount would decrease the worth of that accessory and also it would make that accessory a norm ( if it wasn't already one). so choosing which accessory and what price to give them is crucial.

triple post? dont see that

triple post? dont see that everyday

as for selling accesories yes i completely agree, those accessories will become a normal aspect of appearance, but the selection should be restricted to those available free during knight creation (8?), so really everybody has already had the opportunity to grab them any way (its all helmet accessories that are worth relatively little anyway, how much does a maid headband cost in AH? i've picked one up for a little over 2k cr, and my comm unit was less than 5k)
as for price, high, probably say 10k cr absolute minimum, was more thinking 20/25k cr

any thoughts on the possibility of shield accessories? or has it been decided that's a terrible idea

OOO already employs 'recolors' to create 'new' shields. The costume on top is still a better approach.

YES shield costumes would work perfectly (and would be so much easier to do), but since its been suggested to death and OOO doesn't seem very keen to implement it i thought a different approach might be interesting
there are problems with it, but it allows a much greater degree of customization than allowing shield costumes, at least until specific shield costumes are released (surge defender costume anyone?) or more shields are added

but do you notice how the design of the BTS differs from wyvern scale slightly (the three glowing gems), that remains to make the shield semi unique even if the colour changes, as do other cosmetic features, ie number of chevrons or placement of glowing symbols or whatever besides colour differentiates it from the other shields
the problem arises with breaker series, frostbreaker, emberbreaker, they are exactly the same design just recoloured

but low star gear, meh
