Implementing something as basic as COD for sending letters is overdue.
Do I even have to explain?

... Just to be save:
You pick an item, put it into the letter and are given the option to set a certain amount of CR or CE as COD.
You send the letter and the reviecer can than pay the amount requested or send the letter back. If he does not pay, he can't get whatever else is attached.

They want you to use auction to sell stuff.

You know, the thing suggested long ago when dinosaurs roamed Cradle so people could sell stuff to other players without having to meet with them.

How is that an argument?

In any way?

No, you can't use your car anymore, we want you to take the bus and sit next to that obese and bearded woman.
No, you can't phone your friends, we want you to go out into the rain and walk there.
No, you can't use something that works in other games, because this is Spiral Knights and we'll be damned if we implement something that others have shown us to be perfectly ok.

You can't be on at the same time, because depending on where you live finding the same time is more than enough trouble as Spiral Knights doesn't even have a server time of any sorts.
You can't get stuff sold from someone who has quit, because he is never on when you are.
You can't send your friends whatever stuff you wanted to sell them personally because of reasons you haven't been online at the same time for weeks.

The auction house is not for the same kind of selling as COD is. COD will at no time make the AH obsolote and neither can the AH cover anything the COD would be good for.

Love these things

"No, you can't use your car anymore, we want you to take the bus and sit next to that obese and bearded woman."
To avoid traffic jams and pollution many gobernments are incentivating public transport.

"No, you can't phone your friends, we want you to go out into the rain and walk there."
Dont use your phone, but you dont need to walk there. Open facebook from the computer.

"No, you can't use something that works in other games, because this is Spiral Knights and we'll be damned if we implement something that others have shown us to be perfectly ok."
Copyrights.

I, too, love these things

"Can't" and "shouldn't" aren't the same.

Or you could just ask them to come over, right? That wasn't an option.

Copyrights for a real world mailing system everyone uses?

Fail troll, try again.

I do trust trades all the time, but it would be nice not to have to.

I don't do long-distance trading with people I don't trust, but it could be helpful.

I see no downsides to this.

I see no downsides to this. (Not sarcasm. I actually meant it.)

No-Thanks
risky

1.needs a prompt with red warning "youre going to lose money"
2.lots of random cods with noob items and high prices - how to avoid that? permissions maybe? definitely not ignore list
3.time limit for getting back the attached item? if recipient doesnt log on for example?

1. and 3. are issues i learned from dragonica. the random noobs from 2. only exist in sk(trade spam anyone?)

cod would be ok, just make sure to do it right from the beginning

@ No-Thanks How can this be

@ No-Thanks
How can this be risky?

1. The interface will surely present the price clearly? There will be new buttons to accept the trade and send crowns back. If this is risky, then I'd say the AH "Buy Now" button looking so similar and located so close to the "Next Page" button is even more risky.

2. It's no different from random friend/guild invites - they have to know your name first. Second, it cost them crowns to send a mail with item attached, and you can simply ignore the sender. The mail disappears from your inbox, the sender loses crowns, the item gets trapped in there until the mail expires and the item is returned. Only the most stupid people will randomly send COD to initiate a trade...

3. Same as current system (30 days)? Or let the sender chooses an expiry date.

COD is for people who've already negotiated the terms of a trade, but can't meet in person to trade due to timezone/play time differences. OOO should implement it.
