When you go into default, you have to pay twice the upkeep cost to get out of it, i believe. If you had enough crowns in your treasury to pay the upkeep, then... i suppose the only thing to do would be send in a support request and see if the GMs can help you out.

Same problem here. There were sufficient funds for the listed upkeep and leftover funds still in treasury. Checking the guild log, there are 2 messages:
3:03:40 PM Upkeep not paid! Guild Hall is in default.
3:03:40 PM Upkeep paid! x crowns removed from treasury
I think it's related to removing expansions.

We had 370k before upkeep.
We had 370k before upkeep. First payment was 250k, which went through fine. Second time (seconds later), it tried to pay again but there was only 120k, so it put us into default. This is rubbish, as our total upkeep is only 250k!

I have a story about Guild Halls.. My friend logged in and removed all the expansions in our guild hall because we quit playing and didn't want to pay upkeep. Said friend forgot to update it so we went into default anyway. When I finally paid to get out of default the guild hall automatically updated to what my friend told it to do months before it happened. I can't say I'm too happy having to pay my default just to have the game take away ALL my expansions and then make me buy them ALL again.
Posting this here so people see it and don't get ripped off like I did. I even have screenshots of it on steam.

hello necro.
guild default is not too much of an hassle until you really care about your guild hall. if you don't have the money to spend for the guild hall, you have to expand your guild first.
a guild default does NOT harm your progress in the game.
