Instant death weapons

I was thinking (talk about a miracle) that there should be a new line of shadow weapons that has a small chance to cause instant death

Supposedly that's 'Doom' status, which doesn't actually exist ingame yet.

I'm against such a status. We're OP enough as it is, why do we need to have Grim-Reaper powers?

What would happen to everything? Lockdown? Bosses? etc...

You would get too much complaints in the game. Everybody would aim for that weapon and other weapons in the game would be useless. Nobody would buy anything due to the fact that you can get instant death on it.

Your suggestion is too broad

Technically I'm pro for a death type status but not for instant death so here my version of it:

Death status when incurred on knight would not do anything at the instant, instead a 10 second counter would appear when reaches zero you die, unless you use a remedy. This with out any death status protection.

As the more death status protection you have the less likely death is to be inflicted and when inflicted the timer would be extended. For example let's say some one that has max death resistance would have only a 10-20% chance of being inflicted with death and the the timer for the death status would 30 seconds. Some with no resistance has a 50% chance of being inflicted (depends on the enemy though) death status and the time for death would be ten seconds.

Death status may seem OP but when its applied to enemies and armor it could help either re-balance or even create new monster and enemies (this could also help the curse status become more fearful). Gears like crown of the fallen should have high death status resistance and the 5 star skelly set should be complete immune to death. There should be a type of trojan (maybe even a new type of phantom) that can cause death status.

However as a weapon it can easily be applied. Guideline for creating such a weapon:

Make it similar like the grand faust, give it a chance of receiving death when the charge attack (making it dangerous to use if you lack remedies and when soloing a depth).

For enemies can affected by death they will receive the 10 second counter when inflicted death. Also there will be two monster families that are immune to death, the undead (obviously since there dead) and constructs (because they like the characteristic to be considered alive). Most importantly bosses should be immune to death or just take a high amount of damage when the counter reaches zero (lets say on the Jelly king, when inflicted death only take 500 damage when the counter hits zero.

As for LD it might ad a nice element to the game players would now have to consider a new status ailment when playing and may even help player deviate from the standard vog, skolver or snarb sets (which should have no or negative resistance to death).

In a nutshell death type status should be applied but to enemies first.

Okie... It already sounds horrible already but make me believe in you!

I thought they died in 1 hit though. How can the monster have any health left? Not to mention wouldn't you die after that first hit to the monster also? I think we should all just step back and let this thread die... I'll snap its neck while you guys tiptoe away.

There is quite literally no occasion that I can think of where an enemy is powerful enough as to warrant a 1 hit kill status.

All this stupid might make my head explode.

I agree with the instant death weapon. I think it will be an awesome addition to the arsenal, and you will have to charge it in order to shoot tapping the mouse won't shoot the gun, that will be awesome.

I don't care about making it

I don't care about making it difficult to obtain, people will get it and will get it with VH UVs. Instant Death weapons are, by theit definition impossible to balance. Also, it kills all of the fun of combat in the game.

Hard to balance

This is very hard to implement due to its nature. If it is a "status", I would prefer instead of "Death" something like "Coma" in Ragnarok Online - something that reduces life to 1, which here is possible due to life actually being numbers, bars are only there for display. This way it is a bit more fair in for example PvP environments such as Lockdown, and need one hit more.

And if such a thing were to happen, it would have to be a really low damage weapon that may at low chance trigger that effect, something like a joke weapon, and bosses would instead recieve 20% or so HP reduction (to avoid jumping trigger flags) Also, as a penalty for that power, the user would be able to be hit with the "Coma" effect while holding the weapon regardless of what would damage him.

It would remind me of the Pluto+Black Dog combo from Castlevania: Circle of the Moon - You turned into a 1-hit killable skeleton which throws normal bones like the classic enemy, which would rarely throw a gigantic one that did 4-digit damage.

All in all, I don't expect this to enter here.

The only problem here its

The only problem here its there nothing as punishment if the player dies other than a CE/ME rev. lets just review:

Castlevania Circle of the moon: (a Single Player Game)
to use the big bone to make a hit of 9999 damage or a damage of 4 digits you have to drop first the pluto and black dog cards. not a big business.

Then have some magic to use the transformation

the big bone its random with low chances to appear but not matter you can keep trowing bones and bones and bones until you get the big one even you can throw more than 1 if youre really lucky

the punishment?
-1 hit = you die.
-if you die you have to start from your last save point.

Now Spiral (a MMO Game)
lets say they implement the 1hit KO weapon.

they have to craft the weapon

they can spam the charged attack because they can get trinkets, UV or a set to give them a boost to their CTR, not matter if it a big time to charged it. someday you will get the 1hit K.O.

The punishment?
-1hit = you die.
- but if you die you can revive yourself or ask someone to revive you.

So whats the difference?
the difference that if you die in spiral you can:
-rev yourself with ME/CE
-ask a friend to join you to revive yourself (but not if it you are in a boss room)
-play in party so even if you die they can revive you.

So not matter the way youre trying to justify a 1 hit KO weapon its OVERPOWERED not matter the punishment and trying to change the punishment if the player dies that mean change the game core mechanics. So this idea would not work. this work on Single player because there a big punishment such a if you die you have to restart the level from check points or the whole level if it mean to be like the old school games, on some MMo this viable because most of the MMO you cant Kill the enemies 1hit with charged attacks like we do here in spiral when you go solo or in party of 2 players. also in some MMO you need critical hits as bonus, enemies have more health so you cant kill them on 1 or 2 hits like here. so please. this not your typical MMo to add 1hit ko weapons as other MMo do.

Spiral its like more a Arcade MMo rather than the tipical RPG MMO.

so in the end: -1 to 1hitko weapons

I know that xD Still more than instant death I would prefer the 1 Hp thing. At least then you have to give another strike - which is the same of what happens in Lockdown when you are toothpick'd/faust'd/hammer'd without resistances/heart pendants etc. "Awesome, but impractical". Not to mention actually triggering the status xD

But yes, again, implementing something like this... I really doubt that xP
