I've been playing with a gamepad forever, and tried to mouse and keyboard controls for a bit. Wasn't a fan, but a lot of the menus aren't gamepad compatible.
Gamepad or m&keyboard?
Do you play with a controller or M+Keyboard?

M+keyboard.
but many of the keys are already taken by something, so it's not the best. if I still had one of my controllers, I would use that, but my brother got them with the xbox.

Mouse & Keyboard, though I use the keyboard little other than for WASD movement.
As a WoW player I'm much more comfortable PC gaming sans-controller, I don't incorporate controllers into my PC gaming or keyboards into my video gaming.

Mouse and keyboard are the best way to play as they give the most control over aiming and dodging. There is always mouse+controller, but that's weird.

However, I have been practicing with the game pad. I'll never use it in LD, though. I need to be able to aim reasonable well. and that's easier with the mouse.

mouse/keyboad have a logitech gamepad but im not effective with it, need the 2nd stick to control aim/direction with the other controlling movement i cant figure out how to change it and for some reason i cant get my mouse button 4-5 to be detected by SK controller settings :P

When you move your mouse your character faces a different way right? So map your controller buttons to your facing controls.
And yes to answer the topc I use a ps3 controller.

I use both Controllers and Mouse+Keyboard. I use a Logitech G13 for the use of Analog stick for movement plus keys that are bind to shortcuts and a Razer Naga Mouse for aiming + attacking. As for controllers... I use whatever kind of controller I'm in the mood to test out with. Mainly Mouse + Keyboard. I have way too many controller to say what I use. I'm a collector in unique gamepads.

i use keyboards
i use keyboards ONLY.
Arrowkeys for moving
Z for attacking
X for blocking
Space+C for switching weapons
Caps lock for AA on/off

Xbox 360 Wireless Controller all the way. I used default layout except:
Y: Auto-Target
D-Pad: Items
Still waiting for OOO to fix the glitch involving not being able to reconnect it without restarting the game.

I've used a mouse + keyboard ever since I started, which is why I don't play LD hardly at all anymore. There is no way to effectively kite around people like many of the striker clones do.

I played with a Logitech flight stick for about 5 minutes, found out it was complete rubbish for Spiral Knights, and went back to a mouse and keyboard.

Because its comfortable and Auto Aim handles those shots that I just cant reach without 8 directions/strafing. Which are few and far between.

I use a controller.
I've been using a PS3 controller since I first started, I cannot imagine playing without it for most of my games. Spiral Knights included.
