well i got myself a grand flourish.... not liking swords in any way im going to give it away...under a few conditions.
This friday (around 8pm EAST (sorry you'll have to look it up)) i will host a series of expeditions through tier 3, with whoever reaches the terminal wins the sword.
the catch
heres the catch.... you aren't allowed any weapons (proto sword+gun for hitting blocks) and no shields. you are allowed, however, any armour/helm so choose carefully. you will be inspected in the dungeon: anyone not following thee rules will be kicked.
entering
its quite simple, just post here and friend me in game to enter and im going to request a fee of 10ce (im running on 500cr and 30ce atm so it might be hard to do continuous runs) and there will be limited entries. lets say first 15 to post are entered (means doing 5 seperate runs with me in all of them).
YOU DONT NEED TO BE t3!! invites will work.
in the event of a party switch, i will go full bomber on the mobs ;) and a gate will need to be established that is mostly clockwork tunnels.
also, you might want to try it first, as Nj and i tried today, failing miserably on the first depth past ember.
point that may be implemented: death=kick from party (cant win) unless a member of the run wants to revive you. (no CE revives as it could result in being unfair)

I'll try I guess. Basically it will be all about running through and attempting not to die? It shouldn't be too hard if you skip all exploring and head for the elevator each time. The party switch situations don't sound too hard either as long as one just runs around trying to avoid crap while you bomb everything. However a couple of questions.
One, will reviving one's self be allowed? Two, what about waiting at elevators to get different less challenging rooms if possible? However the second question may be moot if you've ended up aggroing every enemy in the stage and they're all chasing you.

I like the idea but I don't get it entirely. Ok, players go in without shield and weapons. What will you be doing? And since 15 people can enter, who gets the Gran Flourish (assuming that not everybody dies)?

Mkos: well, basically i was thinking no revives (unless i die in a party room *cough* ill pay for a rev for myself) and once your down your kicked (is this to harsh) and it'll probably be just head straight on once reaching an elevator.
kaybol: and if everyone wins.... i suppose if more than one person makes it to the terminal, we will narrow it down, by heading on past the terminal (whoever dies last wins it). and i will be following closely... if anyone dies by my fault youll get +one life. also is that an entry?
Im trying to establish something in game rather than forum based like my art comp. be nice to actually make a fair competition - this seems to work well once kinks are worked out.

Probably not a good idea to have a challenge for others where some parts of the level is dependent on your performance (i.e. You perform well and enemies are alive for less amount of time, meaning player is in less danger. You perform poorly and player has to try and survive longer).

the winner is whoever reaches the clockwork terminal, unless two+ people reach it. in that event it will be whoever makes it deepest. if no one reaches the clockwork terminal.... well lets hope someone does.

For those who haven't checked it out yet Strata 5 is thunder. There's a very high probability of running Fiend types (Devilites and AHHMG Greavers) and Quicksilvers. There's also two arenas at D21, though we'll probably want to skip those maps.

Ok, just for the record: this is not an entry. I do love the idea and I'd like to help you clarify it. And I hope one day I'll be able to participate when it's at a more reasonable hour. I mean, if it's a success then I suppose you'll repeat this some time. :)
Entrants who paid the 10CE will be invited to Emberlight (Tier 3), where they will have to pick their armor/helm of choice (any armor is allowed, including Quicksilver), remove their shield and replace their weapons with proto sword/gun. Party size will be maximum: you + 3 contestants. You will, of course, be going full gear. In case all the monsters need to be destroyed before moving on, you'll be planting Nitronomes until they're all wiped out, flinging monsters across the room (oh wait, you never said that).
- What gear will you be using?
- Outside of these party-button rooms, will you be killing monsters at all?
- Will you be breaking any blocks, or will that be left up to the contestants?
- Will you stay with the group, or will you run in front / behind everyone?
- Are contestants allowed to attack monsters using their proto weapons, or are these only supposed to be used to break blocks? (Not that I believe you can seriously bring something down using proto gear in T3, especially without the ability to shield-bounce.)
- Are contestants allowed to throw vials at monsters?
- Are contestants allowed to open crates and slash bushes to find hearts?
- Are contestants allowed to refuse to hop on the elevator while their waiting party members are being attacked by Greavers? *evil*
Rezzing eachother is allowed, although not encouraged because it lowers your chances of survival considerably and gives the rezzed person another shot at winning the Flourish. Energy revives are disallowed* and will be a waste of energy. So basically: death = you lose = kick from party before the elevator.
*If anyone gets killed through your fault (eg. you shield-bounce attacking monsters into them too often) they're granted a revive.
- Do they spend their own energy for this? Or do you revive them using your (pretty much full) health? Or will you compensate for energy spent?
IMO Quicksilver armor shouldn't be ruled out. If someone is lucky enough to have that speed bonus, this would be the perfect occasion to use it.

i wont be killing any mobs
i may occasionally break blocks if i'm in danger
i will be close to the group so spawning mobs don't mess things up, however i will try to stay behind at most points.
sure you can attack stuff if you want to die with your 18 max damage ;)
anything in the level can be used to your advantage (health boxes, vials etc)
at the elevators i will probably be holding any mobs back to disable anything like that. however evil trickery by players is encouraged.
aand i will either rev them with my health or if i'm low, the energy will be compensated for
and yeah im not ruling out any armour like quicksilver.
im sorry about timezones anyone, i don't exactly know when everyone plays while i live in the middle of nowhere....i assumed it would either be my late nights, or morning. will deal with that next time (probably will make up more competitions)

Waha, it was a wonderfully short run. Didn't think we'd survive the first level, but somehow we did. XD
It seems that shields don't need to be restricted. If you're being mobbed by 10 greavers that you aren't allowed to kill, no shield will be able to save you. They'll just keep chasing you, landing hits every time they attack, until you die.

Test run :/ Wasted 20CE on elevators...
Good thing no one wanted to craft me that Angelic helm ( I figured Shadow defence may be useful for that run), or I would have wasted even more.
Changing rules AFTER we do it is kind of meh. I know I'm biased because I won that first round, but still, not like I cheated anyone. And you really chose a hard one - Greavers are probably the hardest monsters to face when you can't fight them. They chase you, have shadow damage, they always stick around, mob, are quick, shoot bullets and leave HAZE which gives Shock (in our case). Their only weakness is pathetic health, but that won't help us with Proto weapons .
When I saw we are on fiend level, I instantly decided to stick a bit behind the group and just let the Greavers kill them. Guess what happened? :P And while they were being eaten, I just safely ran to a party switch xD

Shock Jellies (Quick Silvers) + Rocket Puppies = HARD....without any weapons lol......
Good luck I have to admit its pretty fun to try new things....I think I will attempt to solo T3 with only a static edge and a firecracker bomb =)
