I've dced 5 times today. Not the regular type, the "black screen" dc. the you-will-not-log-on-for-15-minutes-because-f***-you type of dc.
once in RLD
twice in FSC
twice in GLD
can somebody explain to me WHY the heck there is such a $#@ dc?
anybody care to help prevent it?
I'm tired of this.
I actually think it was the third match today between Rig and Ultra where I had such horrible lag after DC'ing. It was ultra-trippy too - I DC during the waiting room and regain control almost a minute after the match starts; I run out there and get to CP #2 and start attacking everyone only to find out later that everyone had decided to have a "Forever LD" match with 1v1 and I had f***ed it all up. All of that, of course, came to me when I received a FLOOD of missed chat messages sent 5 minutes ago. Embarrassing as all hell.
I quit to then play other games, all of which of course ran perfectly well, both the OL-only games I have and the ones with multiplayer functions. I can't help but suspect that this is lag from OOO's side, and I too am very PO'd.
@ Cmere: Noted, but please don't be a smart***. "DC" is a common and widely-used abbreviation for "Disconnection" seeing as it is much easier to type "DC" quickly than the entire word while playing as well as being easier to work into sentences. It's a connotation used in almost every multiplayer game since the 90s. Did you have anything to actually contribute to the thread?
I know i didn't said "What is connotation thing? i said that i hate it when people talk like that because since i play tf2 evreone do that with all hats, i can't remember all the god damn connotation thing.
EDIT:And now redblade, are you sure it wasn't a reboot of the server...Happens every 8:00 am, well in cnada and USA, i dunno for other places.
Well, let's use our simple 5th grade reasoning skills to deduct the meaning of the letters (unless you haven't been through elementary school yet, which is highly possible seeing as you couldn't figure this out).
-DC is commonly used throughout the game after a player randomly stops walking/talking/fighting or when a player has a strage icon above their head
-One reason for stopping walking/talking/fighting would be a disconnection from the server. Weird how -D-is-C-onnection could match up, right?
-"Not the regular type, the 'black screen' dc." Which leads us to believe that somehow his screen went black and then logged him out.
Now, what could cause his 'black screen' logging out problems with the abbreviation of DC? Hm, this is a tough question.
Please, don't sit there and rant when you very well know what he means by 'DC'. Please also don't tell me you haven't ever used shortened phrases such as WTB, WTS, WTT, lol, wtf, lmao, DC, FSC, any weapon abbreviation, etc. If you haven't ever used any abbreviations such as the latter, then iaylolyatmgcptpske (I applaud you -laugh out loud- you are the most gramatically correct person that plays Spiral Knights ever).
Seriously, why rant when you know exactly what he means?
EDIT: Beaten to the counter-rant v.v Ah well, leaving this because it's all true.
And your lag is probably related to your own computer. I always find a nice modem reset and computer restart help me when I get below 4 bars. The disconnections could also likely be caused just because of a crappy internet connection. You lose it, and it's an instant buh-bye.
Di you even took the time to read the post? I KNOW HOW IT WORK!
I just can't memorize 53 different god damn different "letter code"
One time in LD I had a DC when I equipped an SMG and it was an EP DC!
I tried to CV the DC but it LP'd my SAT at the DMV. OMG!
Did you even take the time to read my post? I realize you knew what it meant. All my demonstration (which you clearly did not fully read) was supposed to do is show how ridiculous your little rant was.
And I'm terribly sorry that after playing day in and day out in Spiral Knights that you can't pick up naturally on a few abbreviations. I have never met someone who's forced to memorize common in-game language. Could it be that you have memory loss problems or can't infer what something means?
Happens every 8:00 am, well in cnada and USA, i dunno for other places.
For the record, it happens either at 12 AM or 1 PM here in the UK - the time changed a couple of times, but it was 1 yesterday.
For anyone who cares: What's RLD and GLD? Red Lockdown and Gold Lockdown?
same stupid dc happens to me on a weekly base.
still no clue what causes it.
Well, I find myself with the enemies freezing across the screen on a regular basis when I try to play the game at all now. Previously it was just when I was attempting to play with, y'know, other people, but now even when I attempt to solo it's like this.
Possible causes:
- My 2-year-old laptop not being desperately designed for gaming
- My internet connection cacking out on me occasionally
- This game becoming an awful lot more graphics intensive with the UI update
@Gravelord: Random Lockdown and Guild Lockdown, although I don't generally encounter people using those acronyms since quite a lot of people just play random or 'standard' Lockdown most of the time.
What's a DC? a deconnection? a dried coconut? a dumb crow? a diabetused cook? i don't like it when poeple use like 2 or 3 letter to describe something, there is too muhc of them and i can't rmember them all...
