I don't know anything about Naruto, but that basically looks like what i'm talking about
problem is, it would not be simple to make an AI efficent enough to pose a challenge. it's not like "he has my weapons he is good". unless he continously spam polaris and brandish charges.
I still prefer my idea of the swarm knight.
When designing any kind of enemy knight, AI is always a problem. Same with your idea, Thunder.
I agree that AIs usually are the problem, but if instead of one dark version of yourself, there were 2... or 3... XD
Different stages of the fight, each stage one more dark version comes :D I proposed this idea a while ago, forgot about it :/

He was a real pain in the butt because he could counter most your attacks
