I need help people, when I tried to use my ps3 controller on spiral knights it didn't work I even tried plugging it to my computer with a USB cable and when I did that I went to options on spiral knights i clicked on controls and clicked on the one that looked like a Xbox controller. but nothing happened so will someone please help me and tell me what to do. please help me.

As someone who's main tool in Spiral Knights is a gamepad, here's a few general questions I have to ask:
- If your Gamepad IS picked up by Spiral Knights, go into Custom Options (Like GM Helios said) and click on a random button, and example is let's say... Inventory, it should ask you to bind a key to that slot, press the start button on the PS3 controller when it asks you this and try it out. Did it work?
- Are you making sure the Playstation 3 Controller is plugged in BEFORE you launch Spiral Knights? Spiral Knight will not pickup the Gamepad unless it was already previously installed before the game launches. If the gamepad ever disconnects during Gameplay, you must restart the game.
- What OS are you using? If I recall, Playstation 3 Controllers and Xbox 360 Controllers cannot be used on a Mac OS unless you install third-party drivers.
- Did the drivers install correctly? Another thing that can cause problems is if the Drivers did not install correctly or have yet to be installed.

WIRED 360 Controller SK Problem
Okay, so I recently downloaded Spiral Knights after playing at my friends' house. I played with his XBOX 360 WIRED USB controller with zero problems.. Fast forward to now.. I have Spiral Knights downloaded, an account made, and all the drivers for my WIRED XBOX 360 Controller are up to date. I even made sure it wasn't the controller by testing it on another game through Steam. So, I have the controller plugged in, have changed the controls to gamepad, and Spiral Knights is ready to be clicked. I click it and the game comes up.. I sign in, pick my character, and then it launches me to the game.. My character stands there motionless while I fiddle with my WIRED XBOX 360 controller to see whats wrong.. Cable was secure and everything else was in order.. So, it must be a problem with Spiral Knights..
I even uninstalled SK twice and reinstalled only to be greeted with the same problem.... Any help?

ok, ovbious question
Is the control settings on gamepad?
Try clicking on the Custom Controls option and re-mapping the game pad there, it might not be detecting the button layout properly.
