Yes and no. They cancel each

Yes and no.

They cancel each other out but that doesn't stop the effects for working albeit briefly. Freeze will still stop the movement for a second depending on how fast the fire effect occurs. And the fire will still do damage.

However, I THINK but have been unable to test this, that simultaneously freezing and burning an enemy causes the fire ticks to occur faster. This can only be seen with something like Shivermist Buster + Ash of Agni and would require two people. I tried to test this by myself but I couldn't charge fast enough >.>

This is just a theory though. I noticed this because someone had a shivermist (which I usually use) and I had a fiery atomizer, and I thought I saw the fire damage ticks occurring more frequently as the freeze->fire->freeze->fire chains occurred.

So yeah if any bored people wanna test...

Can't freeze a target that is

Can't freeze a target that is burning unless you put the fire out first with freeze, pretty sure you can burn a frozen target though, but that thaws them out. That's been my experience and from tests with vials.

Actually my post should be in suggestions...

New status effect: Freeze fire!

Like Jakiro's Dual breath - Slow and deal damage over time

They can't simultaneously

They can't simultaneously exist, but, as NegimaSonic brought up, doesn't mean that they can't be applied, fire once, immediately get replaced by the other.

I know you can use freeze to extinguish fires though, which is a handy trick for oilers. Anybody know if it extinguishes terrain fires too, like from oil slicks?

I can confirm Negi's theory

Well I use Ash of Agni all the time, it definitely ticks faster when there's another user with shivermist around.

The tick starts directly when fire is applied. E.G. They get burnt almost immediately after they are freeze and hence a faster tick, vice versa, hence the awkward movement.

My question here would be, Does Shivermist does tick damage when there's an Ash of Agni around?

It shouldn't; freeze damage

It shouldn't; freeze damage is only supposed to trigger when they thaw naturally. I seem to recall that being a bugfix... that used to do damage even if it was prematurely broken.

Ah, syor You would've been

Ah, syor

You would've been the guy I wanted to test, cuz I had been using the shivermist when you used your ash. Friday was my first experience in the reverse, anyway it doesn't work in reverse, freeze damage won't apply (or if it did, I never noticed it).

Still, glad to see some confirmation on Fire+Ice = Faster Burn. I thought it was a cool combo :D Pretty sure this is only useful for bombers though, all other means of dealing these statuses are unreliable and don't affect as much.

@1dinosaursqw

We have something similar in the form of shock, which has a little bit of poison thrown in as well.

I deal shock damage

I dealt shock damage of 15 to mobs like Mecha Knight, but it's not very often( probably 3-5 second per hit?) and pretty low in damage. Yes I used an Ionized Salt Bomb. It's fun to use in Flash Lash Arena :3

You don't rely on shock for

You don't rely on shock for damage or CC, you rely on it stagger the enemy, that's what it does, stops them operating effectively whilst lowering their defence by a lot while spasming and doing decent chain damage if grouped up.

So I was looking at status

So I was looking at status attacks and was interesting in combining freeze and fire.

I think I'll call it...

[puts on sun glasses]

Freezer burn!

YEAAAAAAA!!!!!
